Chapter 3 by DamianFreeUseLover669 DamianFreeUseLover669

In this world...

The 14 Planets (or That Time Everyone Bullied NASA to Save Pluto)

Just like in the 2006 of our reality, NASA considered downgrading Pluto's status from planet to dwarf planet. However in this timeline, the moment word got leaked online it pissed a lot of people off and caused everyone ranging from children to amateur astronomers to even Civil Rights and little person advocacy groups to start protesting. Because if the government can downgrade or even disqualify something that has enough characteristics for being a planet from being a planet because of its size, what's stopping them from doing the same thing to a person?!

All this backlash resulted in NASA getting everything ranging from innocent pleas to full on **** & terrorist threats. This caused NASA to reverse their decision.

Not only is Pluto still a planet in this reality but the number of official planets in our solar system is now 14!

The 14 are...

Mercury (named after the Roman messenger god)

The qualifications for being a planet are...

  • It must orbit a star and must be big enough to have enough gravity to **** itself into a spherical shape (Haumea is more oval-shaped but it gets a pass).

Despite the backlash, NASA still created the dwarf planet category anyway. There were complaints from little person advocacy groups but nobody really cared anymore since Pluto was safe.

According to NASA, a dwarf planet is an object that orbits a star and has enough gravity to **** itself into a spherical shape but has failed to reach a size that exceeds 1000km (621.371 miles).

The Moons of Pluto

Pluto still has 5 moons and they're still named after things relating to the Greek underworld. However some of them have different names or different spelling.

The moons are...

  • Persephone (in place of Charon): A goddess who was the wife of Hades and the queen of the underworld.
  • Tartarus (in place of Nix): The deepest part of the underworld where the truly evil and enemies of the gods are imprisoned.
  • Styx: The River Styx - One of the major rivers of the underworld.
  • Cerberus (instead of Kerberos): Hades' pet three-headed dog who guarded the gates of the underworld.
  • Charon (in place of Hydra): The ferryman who transported the souls of the dead across the river Acheron to the underworld.
