So, what do they think of you?

Your legendary strictness is reassuring, but it doesn't half take a long time

It turns out that the girls appreciate the certainty of a harsh spanking for the tiniest mistake (apparently none of them have been able to sit down without pain in term time since they started their courses) and it really helps them maintain the expected standard of behaviour. The one disadvantage, however, is that spending so long on discipline means they don't get as much time to focus on academic and pastoral issues with you as some other students get with their supervisors.

It's certainly a matter worth considering. The obvious thing would be to delegate some of the punishments, but quite apart from the fact that spankings (and tipping) are your favourite part of your job now, your grad-students all made it clear that your personal touch when it comes to chastisement is one of the highlights of working with you. It seems the only acceptable solution is to devote more time to each graduate, so that they don't miss out on your wisdom due to your unbending rigour.

It's not until the third or fourth interview refers to the same thing that you have the idea. Since each of your grad-students cleans your house and looks after you roughly once a fortnight, you could administer only a token spanking during your supervisor meeting or any other time during the work day, which would still be as much as some other staff give in their entirety. Then, you could finish the punishment at your leisure in the evening. It would require some more commitment from you and curtail your social life somewhat, but that might be a price worth paying for the good of the young women who deserve your best efforts. Also, having the prospect of a prolonged and intense chastisement hanging over them for several days might have a beneficial effect upon the effectiveness of the punishment.

The suggestion is met favourably, although not without discomfort. As Susan says when it's her turn, "if on some level you don't hate being punished, then your disciplinarian's not doing it right." You email the girls you've already seen and they get back to you swiftly with similar sentiments, so it's decided, although it may be a few days before the new procedure comes into effect.
