You have a dinner date

You are so looking forward to your evening appointment that you go straight home in plenty of time to shower and change. When you open the front door, the pleasant aroma of Jie's cooking assails your senses and she immediately skips up to greet you with a curtsey. She's wearing a black silk dress, embroidered with golden thread, her hair plaited and piled on top of her head. You can't put your finger on why, exactly, but you can't help thinking she looks like a waitress, which may be how she views herself tonight.

"Welcome home, Professor," she addresses you with a cherubic smile. "Your guest isn't due to arrive for a short while. May I get you anything in the meantime?"

"No, thank-you, Jie," you reply, "I'm just going to take a shower before she gets here."

"Would you like me to wash your back?"

You're about to reply in the negative (you've been managing to wash yourself perfectly well for decades), but you realize that when you have a resource available, you might as well utilize it, so a mere twenty-five minutes later, you find yourself freshly scrubbed, coiffed, barbered and dressed by the exceedingly efficient grad student. Passing the hall mirror, you can't resist looking at your reflection and notice that the dinner jacket you're wearing fits you more flatteringly than any you can remember, even as a young man. You don't know how she's done it (she certainly didn't use any make-up), but you look almost handsome.

A knock on the door tells you that your date has arrived and Jie lets her in while you stand ready to welcome her into your home.
