Chapter 14 by Johanna Johanna

Does any advert catch your eye?

Yes - speed dating

Dating shows were about the last thing you would have been interested in in your old world... which is precisely why an advert seeking participants for one catches your eye. You want to see if the type of entertainment you decidedly did not enjoy previously has been sufficiently improved by the changes you have made. And well, you are single now.

The speed dating show looking for Asian female participants offers two variations, it turns out. The main difference is which way the numbers are skewed. One version has Asian girls approached by those willing to date them; the decision on whether on not to proceed is solely the girl's, but for each refusal she pays an increasingly humiliating price. Needless to say, the ladies will have a fine balancing act between waiting for the more attractive options and being embarrassed for the world to see. In the other, Asian girls outnumber their potential dates. They choose their preferred date... And have to compete in one humiliating challenge or another with all others who did so. The balancing act is still there, although in a slightly different shape. The more attractive the date, the more competition there will be... And obviously the higher are the chances to end up empty-handed and humiliated.

You know you should be careful and find out more about this world before throwing yourself head first into something of this scale; this will actually be televised and it is made very clear that for some the experience may get quite intense. You really should build up on your first small steps (especially even these felt quite intense already, involving far fewer people in far more familiar settings) slow and carefully. Instead you find yourself filling the form with your details.
