Chapter 10 by BronzePlaceWriter BronzePlaceWriter

What's next?

Lisa and Diana have a talk

The next day, Diana and Lisa arrived early to college, just as many of the others did. The aura of the school was expectant, almost excited. No one knew who would be chosen for the new role, and many people feared it would be them. Others though - especially the male students - looked eager for it to be. It was known by now that no male would be selected, and as such, they were free to fantasise about whichever girl they most wanted to see picked. For the first part of the morning, they were busy chatting in circles, in the classes and the hallway. Some of them even shooting looks towards particularly favoured targets. Not all the young men were so mean in nature, however. Many of them seemed to be simply trying to stay out of it, ignoring the others when they tried to draw them into the circles, or even making a show of refusing to join in. It was, Lisa supposed, quite telling actually. It really showed who was who in the college. The guys who liked to pretend to be nice, and the guys who actually were. Surprisingly, quite a few of the assholes had actually refused to join the huddles, while many of the ''nice'' guys had done so. Some of the male students even looked worried, though not for themselves. they had female friends, after all. Or sisters who were also at risk.

The twins took their early classes as usual, working through a series of boring tests in several of them. Though, Diana had a reputation as the smart one, honestly, they were both highly intelligent, and neither had much trouble with the material. In this manner, they were able to quickly power through the work, and spent much of the day in quiet contemplation.

It seemed that the rulebook had managed to do what it promised. Even though the big test yesterday had been something which once would have been massive, it seemed that as far as the college was concerned, it had merely been a particularly difficult test. Yes, there was sympathy for the girls, and what they had gone through, but no one blamed the guys for anything, even the girls themselves. Rather than a perversion of rules and order, the whole thing was played off as, well, natural. Likewise, with the college **** position. No one wanted to be stuck with it - well, some did, but they didn't say so openly as Lisa well knew - and many people had sympathy for whoever had the job. But no one even thought for a moment that it might be wrong, illegal or even immoral. It was simply something that happened. To be avoided if you could, endured if you could not. Like a storm, or a wave on the sea. A **** of nature against which there was no use railing and fighting.

Lisa considered this for several minutes, as she waited for her next task during the class. Diana still had the rulebook, but she still had the page she had stolen. She was now fairly sure that the rulebook was, in some way, alive. It didn't just take what was written down, it took what you meant, like it could read your thoughts. Indeed, with the power it had, it would probably be quite easy for it to read her thoughts. She'd tried thinking what she wanted it to do, but it seemed that whether it understood her or not, writing was not optional. However, once you did write, it would understand what you wanted with even basic instruction. You didn't have to get super complex - though, she had the impression that it appreciated the effort - so long as you tried to put down what you wanted, the rulebook would meet you halfway.

What are you? She thought, glancing towards her purse, and the rolled up page within. How do you do what you do? And who made you? And why did that do? And why, oh god why, did they then let you get away? Either somehow they lost track of you... which is scary because it means they might want you back... or else they didn't need you anymore which is also scary because it implies they can do the same thing on their own now. If the world was changed, would I even know it....? No one else does when Diana and I do it. How often has this thing been used before, by someone else?

How many times have the rest of us been played as tools?

She shook her head, dislodging the thought. It was true that she was using the rulebook to have fun now. But she couldn't forget the real power it had. Diana was right. Once they were done here, they would need to find a way to learn more about it, and if there were any more like it.

In such a state of heavy thought, Lisa passed the day until it was time for lunch. Lisa and Diana then proceeded towards the cafeteria, where they would be able to grab something to eat. They'd been tempted to eat out - the college didn't mind so long as you were back in time for classes - but neither of them much felt like it today. They had said barely a word to each other since setting out this morning, and both of them felt a little bit awkward still.

"So..." Lisa said, trying to break the silence as they moved down a corridor together. "Crazy day, huh?"

Diana snorted.

"Is that really your idea of an ice breaker?"

"Cut me some slack, sis, I don't usually need one." Lisa protested. "You've just been a bit quiet since, well, you know."

"Yeah." Diana said. "I'm just..." She paused, trying to describe her position. "This is fucking weird, Lisa. Not the book. I mean, the book is weird too, but I can sort of accept that. But the two of us getting it, and using it for something like this. I never thought it would be... I mean, I never even considered it..."

"Hey, if you want out, you can get out." Lisa said. "You have the rulebook, you can mark yourself exempt from anything you don't want a part of. Easy done."

"I know that." Diana rolled her eyes. "That's not what I meant. The fact that we're doing it at all..."

"Sis, sis..." Lisa raised a hand. "Let me ask you a serious question, okay?"

Diana nodded.

"Sure."

"Did you enjoy yesterday?"

Diana went quite, her lips pressed together. A serious look had come over her face. Lisa watched and waited.

"Maybe." She said at last. "At least, a little bit. But that's not the sort of thing that I expect to enjoy."

"Why not?" Lisa countered. "It's a game. A fantasy. When you touch yourself, you like to imagine things, right? It's natural, everyone does. When you use a dildo, don't you close your eyes and picture something that makes you feel all hot and wet?"

Diana was silent for another moment. Lisa waited, wondering what she would say. Slowly, her older sister allowed herself to nod once.

"I suppose I do." She said. "But this is different. It's not just me. A dildo is just a hunk of plastic at the end of the day, Lisa. But this involves everyone."

"That's why you like it, though." Lisa said. "Thanks to that notebook, this is so much more real than we ever could have gotten. Like seriously Diana, think about it. Even if you'd gotten a boyfriend who had the same sort of kink as you, do you honestly think he would have been able to help you embrace it this completely? So what if it involves everyone? They don't mind. Thanks to that book, they feel it's totally natural. And after college hours, no one even remembers, plus, we don't have to worry about photos or videos, so why not enjoy it?"

"It's not moral." Diana protested weakly. "We're taking people's choice away..."

Lisa nodded.

"I can't contest that." She said. "We are. Maybe it's not right. I don't know. If it were happening to me, I'd probably not be happy. But this sort of thing doesn't happen, Diana. This is a miracle. If we took it in and didn't use it, would that be better? No one is being hurt, and people are enjoying themselves. They won't remember afterwards, and we can do whatever we want... isn't that worth enjoying at least a little?"

Diana looked torn. On one hand, hormones and a desire to finally live out her fantasies was battling hard against her ethical side. She knew that this was mind control. This wasn't fair, it wasn't right. But at the same time, no one was being hurt. People were having fun. They wouldn't remember afterwards. Was it really so bad...?

She shook her head, trying to dislodge the doubts. Part of her still insisted that it was.

The two of them got their food, and then ate it in silence. Lisa giving her sister time to wrestle with her doubts. She knew that Diana was a good person deep down, and something like this - as much as she wanted to enjoy it - was challenging her morality. However, she was sure that, in time, her sister would come around.
