Although you don't ease her in gently by any means, she never falters, rebutting your arguments clearly and definitively, citing appropriate references (which match the ones listed in your cheat sheet so closely it's as if she wrote it herself) and speaking increasingly passionately as she warms to her subject. If she was initially nervous, that soon passes and she becomes more animated as she grows in confidence, relaxing enough to reveal the pleasure she derives from discussing her subject at a high level.

By the time the alarm notifies you that your time's up, you're reassured that Peggy will have no difficulty defending her thesis for real and you don't hesitate to tell her this. It's with a smile on her face and a spring in her step that she departs, treating you to one final look at her well whipped back as she does so.
