Ask the girls in the quad for help

Pushing yourself off the wall, you run over to the parapet and call down to anyone who happens to be below. "Stop that man," you point at the entrance to your staircase and four girls look puzzled until the fellow flies out at speed. They try to intercept, but the first two are scattered as easily as you were, both thrown to the ground whilst being sworn at obscenely.

The third woman's not defeated so easily, grabbing the man's wrist when he goes to shove her and spinning round to slam him face first into the lawn, arm twisted up behind his back to restrain him until help arrives.

It takes a while to sort things out. First porters, then police, paramedics and university beadles are called. The man's taken away for observation due to the bump on his head, but after all statements are taken, the student responsible isn't arrested and when it's discovered the lock on Dr. Renhouse's desk was picked and illegal lock picks are found on the perpetrator, he's the one who ends up in custody. You may not know the whole story for a while, possibly ever, but it's clear you've foiled some sort of crime.

After the two downed women are examined and pronounced uninjured, if shaken, you text Natalia, your postgrad, to arrange your late lunch, walking over to the SCR with a spring in your step.
