A compromise

New Rule: Mike is the president of the student body and meets daily with the principal to discuss school matters.

New Rule: Mike is seen as a strong negotiator, any compromise he puts forward is seen as a great deal and willingly accepted.

"There, that ought to help us get you back into school!" Mike smiled at Sara.
"If you're that bothered about me staying at school, why not just make it a rule?" she asked back, confused.
"Where's the fun in that Sara?" he said, once again taking Sara's hand into his, "are you coming?" Figuring that the boy would only **** her to anyway, Sara nodded, and the pair headed off back in the direction of the Principals office.

Mr Phillips bolted upright upon hearing the knocking on his door. Shutting his laptop lid to conceal the CCTV feed from Mrs Pritchett's first period math lesson that he had been watching on repeat, he gestured with his hand and shouted, "enter."

"Ah, Mr Bowen, is it time for our daily meeting already?" he asked Mike as he entered. "Oh, why is she here? She should have left the campus already!" the principal pointed at Sara, almost ashamedly after having reviewed this mornings ordeal.
The pair stood hand in hand, facing the principal. "Well Mr Phillips, I have come up with some kind of a compromise that will allow Sara to continue her studies, I think you will find it most agreeable!" Mike squeezed Sara's hand as a sign of encouragement. She desperately wanted to push the boy away.

"Mike, I must say its very unprofessional for you to use your platform to support your girlfriend," Sara shivered as the principal spoke, "but seeing as it is you, I will hear it!"
"Well, wouldn't you do anything to support your loved ones Mr Phillips?" Mike responded. Sara was furious at this point, how dare Mike insinuate they loved each other. After what he had put her through, she despised him. She did however, understand the futility of objecting to the claim.
"I suppose I would Mike, please tell me your arrangement."

"During school hours, I will be fully responsible for Sara. I will be by her side at all times to ensure that she is abiding by the rules. If she as much as put a foot wrong, I will be held accountable. And in return, she is allowed to continue her studies here." Mike set out his proposal. Sara couldn't believe it, he was appointing himself as her legal guardian!
"A fair deal Mike," the principal approved. "I shall arrange it so this will be the case from tomorrow. However, I do still recommend she takes the rest of the day off to clean up and review her actions today!"
"Oh, of course Mr Phillips!" Mike replied.
"Miss Youngs, you are a lucky girl, not everybody has a partner as supportive as you do. I believe you owe him a thank you!"
"Yeah Sara, I believe you do," Mike gloated.
