Chapter 3 by closet---- closet----

Who will find this magic wand?

Xander Hartrum, 25 year old shut-in, just bored

Xander squinted his eyes at the scorching sun. Well, scorching for him, as this was his first trip to the outside world in some time. But even someone like him has the need to go touch grass, as they say, so here he was. It made no difference in how he viewed his current circumstances though, and later he'd use this small trip, as is usual, to justify staying locked inside for the next week, maybe month.

In his desire to get out of the blinding rays of sun, Xander entered the closest shop, not even looking where he ended up in.

Luckily for him, it was some kind of antique shop, or at least something along those lines, and not something like a gym. Xander, by his own admission, would never let himself be seen in a gym.

Anyway, the antique shop.

It was a relatively small and cosy thing, with dim lightning and absolutely overstuffed by all kinds of random junk. So random, in fact, that as Xander looked around he came to the conclusion that this wasn't an antique store, but more of a magic shop.

He was just looking around, observing all the items a magician or illusionist could use to help them trick people. Some of the items were truly strange, Xander couldn't even try and begin to guess what some of them were for!

And as he was looking at the display, chuckling softly at the merchandise, a soft 'thump' echoed out. A small-ish box had fallen to the ground.

"Hey, careful there!" the thus far silent shopkeeper yelled out, "You pay for anything you damage, got that!"

Mood soured even more, Xander picked up the box he knocked over, apparently some kind of magic wand, and made his way to the counter, grumbling all the way. After all, why wouldn't he? He had no intention of buying anything, and now he had to buy a stupid magic want. It was probably the only non-interactive item in the whole shop, so it'd be even more of a waste! Those were some of the thoughts running through Xander's mind.

But what's done is done, and Xander was now stuck with his unfortunate purchase. Or was it, perhaps, fortunate after all?

What's next?
