Pokemon Hunting?

“How about a Caterpie?”

“Really Blue?” You shake your head “No”

“What? Are you grossed out by worms or something?”

You and Blue had stopped to rest your feet in Viridian Forest for a few minutes and the two of you were trying to discuss what, if any, of the Pokemon you had seen to catch.

“I am not ‘grossed out’ by Caterpies, I just have too many memories of those pests eating up my Mom’s garden. Besides, if you say catching a Pidgey would be a waste of a Pokeball, I think catching a Caterpie would be a waste.”

Blue’s frustrated look tells you that he wants to argue with you, but he can’t seem to come up with a good response. “So, how about a Weedle?”

“No, they are even worse than Caterpies. At least they evolve into Butterfree, which are cute. Beedrill don’t even have that going for it.”

“Ok, now you are just being difficult Amber.” Blue seems to be getting annoyed with you, and you can’t help but find his annoyance kind of cute; and now you realize why Blue likes annoying you…

“Really, I am being difficult? I asked you to help me catch ‘something cool’, not the first thing we ran across.” You give Blue a smirk “And before you even try, IF a Caterpie or Weedle is so cool, why haven’t you caught one yet, or both?” Blue tries to put on a poker face, but he knows he has been caught “So why don’t you tell me what you are after?”

Signing with defeat, Blue tells you “Look, if we stay to the main paths were should be able to pass through Viridian Forest in about two days, maybe three if we aren’t in a rush. If we do that though all we are going to find are more Caterpies, Weedles, and the other Pokemon that we haven’t bothered to catch. But, if we go off the main paths and go deeper into Viridian Forest, we might be able to luck into rarer Pokemon. Now I don’t know what we WILL find, but it would defiantly be better than a bunch of Caterpies and Weedles.”

“Why would that matter, wouldn’t we still be in Viridian Forest?”

“A lot of Pokemon try to avoid humans, so they avoid areas with a lot of foot traffic. Such as the main path through Viridian Forest. But that means if we go off the main path, go deeper into Viridian Forest, we have a better chance of finding a rare Pokemon”

“Ok, I guess that makes sense. How long do you think this would take though?”

Blue shrugs “No telling, a few hours if we are VERY lucky, most likely though we would have to camp out for a few days. Also, since we are both trying to find Pokemon, we need to luck upon two Pokemon, not just one. So we will have to look for even longer.”

You can’t deny that you like the idea of catching a possibly rare and powerful Pokemon. But you also don’t like the idea of possibly spending days camping out in Viridian Forrest on the chance that you find something.
