Chapter 40 by Sarckle Sarckle

Which door should you take?

The front door.

You don’t know what could be in the alley out the side door. So you make your way out of the front door. The street is busier than when you entered the shop. You take a look around to spot any potential challengers. You don’t see anybody looking at you. Your phone beeps. It’s a text from Daisy, “See you soon! ;).” You go to type a response while walking towards the bar. Before you can hit send you slam into someone, falling backwards onto your butt. You look up from the ground at the man standing over you. 3 others step up to surround you.

“See Arthur, I told you they were talking about piercings,” the man to your left says.

The man you ran into crosses his arms looking at his friend, “Suppose you were right.” He turns his gaze down towards you. You pull yourself to your feet, standing between the 4 guys. “Me and the boys couldn’t help but notice you at the game tonight talking to the Oak boy. We thought that a trainer like yourself would appreciate some training.”

“Um, I was actually going to meet some friends. So maybe a rain check on the battling?” you shyly say backing away from Arthur. You bump into the chubby guy behind you, who places his hands on your shoulders stopping you.

“Nonsense. I’m sure your friends would understand a trainer’s prerogative to battle,” he smiles taking a step towards you. He presses you between himself and his chubby friend. “Now that we’ve decided that it’s time to battle. Would you prefer to practice your single or double battling skills?”

You gulp looking up at Arthur. You can still feel the belly pressed into your back and the hands on your shoulder. Double battles would save you time, only having to do 2 battles rather than 4. But you do have more experience with single battles. A moment of fear strikes you, can you really beat 4 trainers in a row?

Single battles? Or double battles?
