Meet an old friend at the Museum

You decide to check out the Pewter Museum of Science, knowing that they’ll message your phone to come back for your gym battle. You enter the building paying an entrance fee. The building has a high ceiling with a second floor balcony overlooking the main lobby. A huge Kabutops skeleton stands in the corner. A large Aerodactyl skeleton hangs from the ceiling next to the second floor. Through the Aerodactyl’s ribs you spot a familiar face. It’s Daisy Oak.

She waves at you from the balcony her flowery sundress shifting with the motion. Daisy had always been kind, in contrast to Blue’s cruelty. Daisy has shoulder length black hair instead of the dark blonde of the other Oaks, likely inherited from her father. You smile and wave, making a hand gesture to tell her that you will come upstairs to her. On your way to her, you pass a huge scale model of a space shuttle, like the ones launched from Mossdeep Space Center.

“Amber, how are you?” Daisy says as she pulls you in for a hug. Daisy had kept her distance from Blue, and due to Blue’s persistence at torturing you that meant she kept her distance from you as well. But you always looked forward to times when Blue would go out of town with the Professor, because it meant you got to hang out with Daisy, well and Blue not being around is always a plus.

“I’m great. Just needed to kill some time before my gym battle. What are you doing all the way in Pewter City?”

“Well, the Saffron Sirens are playing here tonight. I know some of the girls on the team. If you want, you could probably come out with me and the team tonight.” Daisy tells you.

“Yea that could be fun, I’m planning on heading towards Mt. Moon tonight though.”

“Well that’s a shame. If you change your mind just message me and I’ll give you the details. It was nice seeing you again. You be careful around Blue, you know how he is. Oh and good luck with your gym battle.” Daisy embraces you again, before making her way out of the museum.

You spend more time looking around the museum. There are fossils in display cases scattered around the place. There is an exhibit about the early stages of the digitization technology that lead to the PC system used today. The gift shop is full of replica fossils and souvenir items. Your phone finally buzzes with a notification that your battle is about ready so you make your way back to the gym.

After a short wait in the gym lobby, you are guided to the battlefield. The arena has scattered boulders around the outer edges but the stoney middle ground is clear. The doors at the far side open revealing the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock. “Welcome, young trainer. I’m Brock, and I’ll show you my rock-hard willpower.”

The battle coordinator calls out from a stand at the side of the arena, “The gym leader, Brock will be limited to 2 pokemon, the challenger,” he looks down at his clipboard, “Amber is free to use up to a full team of 6 pokemon. Let the battle begin!” He blows a whistle and Brock throws out his first pokemon. The gym leader’s Geodude pounds its fists together ready for battle.

You reach into your bag for your pokeballs. But who to start with? Squirtle would provide a type advantage, but it might be better to save him for the second pokemon. Tingle’s electric attacks would have no effect on the ground type pokemon and his weakness to rock type moves would be a detriment. Runt could use her speed to outmaneuver the slower Geodude.
