An opportunity at the center

You give a slight return bow to the nurse Joy as she returns you pokeballs, before finally allowing yourself to plop down onto a much needed chair. As you take a quick moment to convince yourself to NOT pull off your shoes and let your shore feet breathe. When you take a moment to hold the pokeball with your newest catch in your hand. It turned out that you had finally found a Rattata to stubborn to just run after the first shot, and it might've helped that your Squirtle was to tired after a nest of them had attacked and he performed a very long very wide spray of bubbles to take them on. Your first catch and it didn't feel right. You hope you'll be able to help Tank through the unfortunate trauma of his first trainer, but you know that will take time, and until then you know he's just going to get upset with Rattata in your roster.

"Excuse me, I-I know this seems kind of out of the blue, but would you happen to have any trade evolving Pokemon or maybe a Rattata or Pidgey? I hear they're very common in this area. The Rattata and Pidgey I mean."

You turn to the strange kid talking to you out of nowhere, he was dressed like a stereo-typical Boy Scout a plain yellow circle badge on his chest showing he was a saffron city gym trainer. Basically a trainer who put their journey on hold to learn under a gym leader, after a while learning under them they would be considered worthy of a badge without the need for a battle. A legitimate if slow and steady approach to gaining a badge.

"I have a Rattata yes but no trade evolving Pokemon. Why do you ask?"

He grabbed the back of his head as he looked down, his face is bright red. Either he was embarrassed about asking a complete stranger such a random question, or was trying not to stare at your chest.

"Well I have a Kadabra that I'd like to evolve into an Alakazam so I was hoping to find someone wanting to do a swap trade. Um where we would trade Pokemon then trade them back so we keep our partners and they get to evolve. But um...if you want we could still do it I'd even be willing to trade a Abra I have for your Rattata if you'ld do it, Abra are notoriously difficult to catch in the wild."

You of course jumped at the opportunity, you get to help another trainer out, take care of the issue with your first catch before it even becomes an issue and you get a Abra to boot. It took only a minute or so to let a different nurse joy from the one at the counter know about the situation before she had guided the two of you down stairs to a trade machine, unlike any other trading that could be done with a quick scan of each other's Pokedex and a hand off nowadays, The old trading machines were still used in pokecenters thanks to the rare trade evolutions. You watched as your ball and his turn into a glowing red light before disappearing for a second only for a new red light to appear forming into the others pokeball, both of you have your eyes glued to the roster setting of your Pokedex watching the change take place then he nods before switching out the pokeball on his side with an fastball-type pokeball. He gives you a nod before the whole thing happens again leaving you with the fastball you quickly grab and throw it into the air letting it open to reveal the floating yellow pokemon. You both turn as the kid opened his ball that upon the Pokemon's release seemed to glow a little longer than normal when one is released showing it was evolving. It seemed to stand A little straighter then a Kadabra usually does, its mustache much longer than its previous evolution as it held two spoons in its hands.

"I'm so happy for you Loki your finally an Alakazam just like you always wanted."

The Pokemon looked at both of his hands before looking up at the trainer and proclaimed his name happily. You are broken from your smile as you look to your left to see your Abra had moved to your shoulder (they all seem to like to rest there) but as an odd quirk they weren't actually ON your shoulder just hovering an inch off of it. You gave the happy trainer a hand shake as you both thanked the nurse joy supervising the trade before you both started heading upstairs.

"It's nice to meet you Trixie my name is Amber, I'm glad your previous trainer gave you a name I like to give my Pokemon names too."

Your are making your way up the steps when something happened that made you almost stumble, but you managed to slam your foot down hard and brace yourself. You herd a soft feminine voice in your head.

"It is very nice to meet you too Amber. And thank you for telling me your name, I'm an odd Abra, in that I wish to stay out of my trainer's head without their permission, besides talking of course."

You take a few deep calming breaths to let your heart rate go down not just from your near fall but also the voice in your head startling you. You turn to face your Abra, who had titled her head slightly at you in curiosity.

"You can psychically talk to me?"

Abra just nods her head. You just sigh as you stand up straighter and start climbing the stairs again.

"Once, just once I'd like those little bitty, important details about certain Pokemon to NOT be omitted from the textbooks, is this just a Abra and your line thing or are ALL psychic-types able to communicate with their trainers?"

Of course you're also reminded of Cleo, professor Oak's Abra, but is the fact they can talk just one of those: 'don't bother explaining it because everybody should already know.' Details.

"from what I remember from the other pokemon at the saffron gym, save for Slowpoke and Slowbro who speak psychically as slow as they move. The only other psychic type that cannot or won't speak telepathically is Mr. mime because.....well mime."

You nod to this and with it making sense in it's own way, while very much wanting to get back to your previous seat and maybe order a drink, non-alcoholic sadly in this case.

"I think the next time I speak to Professor Oak I'm going to have a few words for him for neglecting to mention this particular detail."
