Chapter 5 by Control Freak Control Freak

Who does Otto end up swapping with?

The mother, Samantha

Otto got hit with a wave of disorientation as the world around him became an unrecognizable mess of swirling colors. When his vision cleared, Otto was standing outside with his hand on the knob of the door in front of him, his other arm around a paper bag full of groceries. He noticed that his nails were nicely manicured, and more disturbingly, that he was standing in heels with a purse slung over his shoulder.

Looking down at himself, Otto was in for quite the shock. He was wearing women's clothing, more specifically a black and white striped dress with black heels. Underneath the dress, he could even feel a bra and panties, perfectly fitted for his body like the rest of his clothing. His hair was the same black color it was before, but now it was long enough to be down past his shoulders. He noticed his legs were also shaved, and it even felt like he had a bit of makeup on his face.

It takes Otto several moments to come out of his disoriented state and figure out what had happened. The clothing was his biggest clue as to who he swapped with. Not only because it clearly belonged to a woman, but because he had seen the curvy blonde mother Samantha wear this very dress multiple times while he ogled- er, 'observed' her before. It stood to reason that he was now the matriarch of the Mason household, which meant he should have the freedom to loiter around the house and conduct his tests. Satisfied at completing his first objective, even if it wasn't exactly the way he would have preferred, Otto opened the front door and stepped inside the Mason house.

The first thing Otto saw once he entered the house was Daisy Mason, the teenage daughter of the family. The dirty blonde girl was sitting on the couch watching TV in jeans and a light pink t-shirt. Upon hearing the door shut, she turns towards Otto. For a brief moment he's worried that she'll freak out, but instead Daisy just looks back at the TV and indifferently says, "Hey Mom."

"Um... hi. Sweetie," Otto said, awkwardly adding the term of endearment after a brief pause. The Role Swapper definitely worked, but that didn't make him any more comfortable with the situation he was in.

Daisy noticed Otto's demeanor, and turns back to face him with a frown, "What's with you? Did something happen at the store?"

"Uh, no, nothing happened," Otto said, slowly making his way to the kitchen. If he wasn't so nervous about pretending to be a complete stranger's mother, he might have been impressed with how easily he was walking in heels despite having never done so before.

"...Alright then," Daisy said, sounding unconvinced but turning back to the TV regardless.

Otto set the paper bag and 'his' purse down on the counter. Unsure of where things were supposed to go, he said in his best 'Mom' voice, "Daisy, can you help me put the groceries away?"

He heard the typical teenager sigh of resignation, but thankfully it was shortly followed by, "Sure, just a second."

As Daisy walked into the kitchen, Otto couldn't help but admire the beauty of the girl. She wasn't quite as curvy as her mother, but she was both younger and more fit, with a gorgeous 'girl-next-door' face. She definitely looked like the type who would be head cheerleader. Wait, was she head cheerleader? Otto didn't know, but he really hoped she was.

"Uh, Mom?" Daisy asked, brow furrowed in confusion above her bright green eyes, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Otto blinked, snapping himself out of his stupor. Dammit, he had to get into character! The last thing he wanted was to blow his cover, or worse, be **** into a very awkward talk about why he was ogling 'his' daughter. Grabbing a random item out of the bag, he said, "Here, I'll hand you things and you put them away.

Daisy seemed to find the process a little odd, but was respectful enough to not question it out loud. As they did their work, Otto handing things to Daisy to put away, he asked her, "So, where are your brother and father?"

"Dad's not home yet, if that's what your asking," Daisy replied, "Probably bad traffic on the highway or something, I dunno. Vic's upstairs with his girlfriend 'studying'. I'd go check on them if I were you."

That wasn't a bad idea, actually. With most of the family home, Otto had plenty of test subjects, and the adding the girlfriend into the mix just gave him more options. Perhaps he could convince the girl to stay for dinner, and once everyone was at the dinner table he could use the Swapper to-

Otto's blood ran cold as he suddenly remembered something. He had programmed a safety feature into the Role Swapper that would let it follow him around as he swapped between bodies so that he didn't accidentally leave it behind in the life he swapped out of. However, in order for that safety feature to work, he needed to attune it to his particular awareness. It was only now that he realized that he couldn't remember whether or not he activated the attunement process during the settings check he did before the swap. If he did, the Role Swapper should be somewhere nearby, but if not... then it would be in the hands of the old Samantha, who probably now thought she was a lonely perverted male scientist who just invented the most amazing device in the world. Which might result in a whole bunch of things down the road, but the more immediate problem was that Otto could be stuck in the life of a suburban housewife indefinitely.

Now starting to panic, Otto dug through the purse next to the grocery bag, hoping to every cosmic **** out there that the Role Swapper was in there somewhere.

Is Otto able to find the Role Swapper?
