A lich

Standing on the other side of the door was a skeletal, decidedly male, lich. He looked unimpressed. A fight started.

Lauren panicked. Why hadn't the stone worked? It never failed before. Was he out of wishes? He would feel like an idiot if there were a limited number of wishes and wasted them all exactly before fighting the lich. Maybe the rock did not work on Teloron specifically? Lauren did find it in his dungeon. Isabelle was right, he should have been more careful. He was filled with regrets.

He was playing his instrument on autopilot during this. The fight was going poorly as he checked in. Teloron's initial attack knocked all the drow but Sein out of the fight. Ilya and Jasper looked bad. Ilya was spending all her magic on blocking the lich's magic and he was still pounding them with spells. Vorka and Temerity had closed the distance and were hitting the lich hard but it was all that Isabelle could do to keep them standing as Teloron threw spell after spell at them. Lauren thought about his wishing stone but it hadn't worked! He decided to try again anyway, "I wish a chunk of ceiling would fall and hit Teloron."

Just as he hoped, a huge rock from the ceiling fell right on Teloron's head. This let the melee bashers get solid hits in and Jasper shot an arrow through the skull's eye. Teloron was very weakened but still standing. He shot a spell at Lauren. Everything got dark for a second. Lauren woke to Isabelle healing him. He looked and saw Jasper, Ilya, and Sein now down. Teloron just finished off Vorka. They were still alive, but the situation looked bad. Lauren knew it was up to Temerity to hit Teloron before he could hit her. Lauren got up and played his instrument the best he had ever played it.

Temerity swung and just barely hit Teloron. The lich screamed in pain as he became nothing more than bones and cloth. Isabelle, Lauren, and Temerity cheered and hugged each other before Isabelle got to working getting everyone back to consciousness.

Lauren felt where Teloron had hit him. Something was different.
