Kate Uses MC to Find Out What Jack Would Hate to Be

In Kate's mind, the best **** would be to turn Jack into something he hated. But how would she find that out? She didn't really know him all that well to know something like that. She looked down at the remote and an idea came to her. When someone was in a hypnotic trance, you could ask them a question and they would tell you the answer. Maybe she could do that with the MC function.

So with that, she aimed the remote at Jack and pressed MC. Nothing seemed to happen. "Jack? Can you hear me?" she asked, but Jack made no reaction. Kate thought about that for a moment, then got a "duh" moment when she realized the reason he wasn't responding was because time was still frozen. She pressed TIME again, allowing time to resume, and suddenly Jack's expression of surprise changed to a slack-faced one, showing that he was in a trance.

"Jack, can you hear me?" she asked a second time.

"Yes," he answered, in an almost monotone voice.

"Good. I'm going to ask you a question and I want you to answer it truthfully. If you were to be changed in some way, what would be a change that you would hate to happen to you?"
