Chapter 6 by Phantompen Phantompen

Can Mackenzie's jacket survive her next report?

The jacket takes a hit, but other things fare worse.

"We are live on scene, where the weather only continues to intensify." Mackenzie started as Pete motioned that they were now broadcasting. "As you can see, the wind alone has proven ****. My poncho tore apart like tissue paper shortly after our last broadcast. What our viewers should watch out for, however, is what the wind could be blowing. Even a relatively small object can, under the influence of hurricane **** winds, carry a significan- WHOA!"

Mackenzie's report was interrupted as her warning was accompanied by a very real example. The destroyed remains of a cardboard box slammed directly into her, missed by Mackenzie due to her focus on the camera. Weighed down by the rain it had absorbed and carried by the winds, the wet cardboard hit Mackenzie like a wall and sent her sailing backwards onto the ground.

Flailing wildly, Mackenzie ripped the cardboard away from her and watched it sail off into the skies as the wind refused to let up. Remembering that she was still live, Mackenzie quickly surveyed herself to make sure the damage wasn't too severe. Her feet were bare, her shoes apparently knocked off in her fall and nowhere to be seen. Her delicate toes wiggled in the cold rain building up on the ground, an unpleasant feeling of grime carried in the runoff. She didn't want to think of what her skirt looked like where her rear had hit the ground.

Her jacket hadn't made it out of the impact unscathed either. The buttons that had held it closed were scattered across the ground, torn off in the impact. The wind buffeted her jacket and kept pulling it open, showing off her soaked and translucent blouse. Doing her best to fight down her rising blush, Mackenzie held her jacket closed with one hand as she got back on her feet.

"A-as you can see, this warning is no joke." Mackenzie said once she regained her footing. She had to keep a professional face, even when things looked bad. "But a little bad weather isn't going to stop us from bringing you what the public wants to know."

Can Mackenzie make it through the rest of this broadcast?
