Chapter 5 by Phantompen Phantompen

The wind is getting bad, how shall Mackenzie weather?

Acceptable losses... at first.

"This hurricane had better put me on the map!" Mackenzie shouted to Pete over the roar of the wind and rain. "We're risking our lives out here, and I'm going to look like an absolute mess by the time this is over!"

"Calm down, Macky!" Pete shouted back to reassure her. "Everybody's gonna know your name and your face by the time we're done here! I've got a sense for this kinda thing, and I can feel it; today is gonna be huge!"

Mackenzie could feel water seeping into her suit even with her poncho for protection. She grit her teeth in irritation, not looking forward to what kind of mess she was going to look like when her report was over. She was about to comment on this frustrating development to Pete when things took a turn for the worse.

The studio hadn't exactly shopped for quality when they bought the poncho, and what Mackenzie was wearing was nowhere near rated for hurricane level weather. The flimsy plastic gave up the ghost just as a powerful blast of wind and rain crashed down on the duo. In a split second, Mackenzie went from relatively dry to absolutely soaked.

"GAH! Fuck!" Mackenzie screamed in surprise and anger. "Are you kidding me?!"

"Ah hell, better get it out of your system fast, Macky! Just got word that we're back on in five!" Pete shouted back.

Cursing up as much of a storm as she safely could in the five seconds she had to prepare, Mackenzie took up her position in front of the camera, now sans poncho. Her entire outfit was drenched, and what small bits of her white blouse peeked out from her suit jacket had turned transparent. So long as her coat held up, that hopefully wouldn't be too big of an issue...

Can Mackenzie's jacket survive her next report?
