Chapter 4 by ChocolateAxek ChocolateAxek

What just happened?

The Impossible

How could something like this happen? How is it possible? Not to mention that it got me out of doing homework. There’s probably an option that allows me to get an A on every assignment regardless of whether or not I do it but how much points will an option like that even cost. There were grayed out options as well but I’m not going to mess with them. If its not broken don’t fix it. A lot of ideas were swimming around in my head as I made my way over to Ms. Bell.

“None of the other teachers needed any help and since there’s nothing planned for today, you can help me out. You can grade the worksheet I gave to my freshman class.”

“Okay.”

I sat at one of the desks in front of Ms. Bell as I graded papers. However, after seeing the dialogue menu, there was no way my focus was going to be on grading papers. Do I just have to think about it to make it appear? I focus my mind on the text I was shown before and the next thing I knew it was in front of me again.

(Welcome to the Dialogue Menu, User. Please select a subject to engage in Dialogue with, or close the Menu.)

I looked up to Ms. Bell and her name appeared once again.

Janice Bell (952 Agreeableness Points)

The score went up, it must have been because I picked a dialogue option. That means that I can grind the points up to do whatever I want. Though there are debuffs for different options. I can probably get around them with some creative thinking or asking in a different way. Might as well have some fun learning about her and changing her at the same time. I scroll down the option that will make this possible and chose it.

(200) It is a teacher’s job to answer my questions regardless of what they may be doing (Debuff – Teacher Authority (500 points).)

The same sensation overcame me, and I looked up at Ms. Bell. Hoping that this works, I asked my first question.

“What’s your favorite color?”

“Purple.”

Starting to get the feeling to it, I bring up the Dialogue Menu again and pick another option.

(50) Your favorite color is blue.

Easy enough. I ask again and she responds that its blue despite saying it was purple before.

“How do you feel about the color purple?”

“Its my second favorite color.”

It was bumped down to second in response to my change. I bring up the menu and see that her points have increased again.

Janice Bell (960 Agreeableness Points)

I spend the most of our club time grading papers and asking her questions. Nothing too out of the ordinary though. I would almost always change the answers to her questions regardless of what they were. I now know a bunch of random things about Ms. Bell that I didn’t know before. Information like her favorite animal is a dolphin, she loves watching action movies, and has a passion for drawing in her free time. I asked her if she was in a relationship and thankfully it was a no. A managed to grind another 100 points before getting an awesome idea to bypass the debuffs. I scrolled down the menu until I saw just what I wanted.

Janice Bell (1060 Agreeableness Points)

(500) You should tutor me in US History at your house whenever your free (Debuff – Teacher Authority (500 points).)

“You have been working hard but you could use a little push to understand the material better. Let me give you my number. I’ll text you the address and let you know when you could come over.”

I swapped phone numbers with my teacher and labelled her contact Janice Bell. That was enough for one day of work. I packed up my things and started to head home. It didn’t take long to get home. I headed inside and went straight to the kitchen for a quick snack or meal. I just decided to grab some cereal. While I was eating, mom came out from her bedroom wearing some loose white pajamas.

“Hey, you’re back a little later than usual.”

“I was just helping out Ms. Bell with some of her work as usual.”

“I know you work really hard for your club, but you don’t have to be there helping out all the time. You could spend some more time at home if you want.”

It’s true I spend most of my time there, but I guess with the Dialogue Menu I have more of a reason to stop going and spend more time with mom.

“Alright mom, I’ll spend more time at home from now on.”

“Thanks.”

After that sentence, I immediately bring up the Dialogue Menu.

Sarah Valentine (1600 Agreeableness Points)

With a score that high, I could probably get away with a lot more than what I could with Ms. Bell.

What should be done first?
