Danny asks for the wrench back

I leaned back against my door, my naked chest heaving and my skin as red as my face. Bad enough that I'd wound up naked in such a ridiculous way, but right in front of my dad after everything I had considered? It's as if the universe itself was going out of its way to mess with me. The awkward conversation that was definitely going to follow only furthered my conviction on that.

A knock at the door startled me out of my embarrassment. I heard dad's voice on the other side, "Taylor, honey, you in there?"

"U-um, yeah dad, just... give me a minute." I began looking for something else to throw on.

Dad's voice sounded confused, "Alright, good... um, can I have the wrench back then? You took it with you when you freaked out."

I blinked and looked in my hand. Sure enough, there was the wrench, gripped so tightly my knuckles were turning white. I didn't quite curse, but I was close. I grabbed a blanket off my bed and held it to my chest as I walked up to my door and opened it a sliver to hand dad the wrench.

"Thanks, Taylor." he said. He paused and added, "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Aside from losing my clothes in front of you?" I half laughed in a voice approaching delirium, "Totally fine."

Dad looked confused, "Okay, not sure why that's a big deal. You know me though, as long as you're comfortable, it's not a big deal."

"Not a big deal? Dad, what if it was _you _that wound up naked in front of me?" I demanded. I couldn't believe his reaction!

Dad thankfully shuddered at that, "Not okay, absolutely. But that's different. You're naked all the time."

I stared at him through the slit in the door, my mind flailing like a drunk at what he was saying. The only words I managed to muster in response was, "Okay. I need some time alone dad."

He nodded and walked down the hall, probably to fix those damn leaks. Leaving me to ponder what the hell just happened!?
