A room of artifacts

As the group peered inside the next room, they saw several objects. On a table sat a large velvet hat fit for a minstrel of some kind. In a cabinet of wood and glass were three tools: manacles, a magnifying glass, and a steel mirror. Finally, there was a pool of water off to the side of the room. Everyone entered the room cautiously and through use of ten foot poles and Jasper's sharp eyes determined that there were no traps. They looked at the hat and the tools. Ilya quickly determined that all four were magical as was the pool of water.

This led to a pause, then an argument. Jasper claimed first pick of the magic items. This was not controversial to the team considering yesterday's loot. He chose carefully, not fully sure what each did. He eventually discovered that the hat was one of disguise and allowed him to appear as others. He picked that one and tried it out a few times.

Now it was known that of the other five party members, two of them would be out of luck here. Vorka, Ilya, Isabelle, Temerity, and Lauren began to argue.

"I should get a pick because I got hit by that trap!" Ilya exclaimed.

"Vorka got first pick last time and Lauren just got drow so they should sit this one out." Temerity suggested.

"Hrmph. Fine. I don't need any." Vorka grunted.

"It wasn't my choice for these drow to follow me." Lauren lied.

"All the same you got them, it is only fair." Isabelle reasoned.

There was a vote on this. As usual, Jasper voted against Lauren. Temerity and Isabelle felt the solution was fair. Lauren and Vorka voted against. Lauren felt that he was being somewhat mistreated by the party. As far as they knew, the stone he got last time didn't do anything. He was being treated as if he wanted the drow to follow him, which they also didn't know was because of him. Just because he had amazingly lucky breaks did not mean that the team were not being unfair to him in his mind. The vote all came down to Ilya. Lauren thought about changing her vote with the stone, but he was still very squeamish about that kind of thing.

"I vote..." Ilya paused, unsure what to do. Jasper was openly staring at her new curves and she did not want to vote the same way as him. She also knew that if she shot this down, it was very likely she would not get a magic item.

"I vote for the proposed distribution."

Lauren sighed. This was frustrating. Isabelle took the mirror, Temerity the hammer, and Ilya got the magnifying glass. They started looking over what they did and Lauren thought of a way to get back at them. He could probably change the function of the magic items. In fact, he probably should anyway in case any of them turned out to be as powerful as the stone.

Lauren went off to the side of the room by the pool to make his wish.
