Goes home and tests out the gun...on herself

Judy sighed, there was no way she was going to use the ray gun when she didn't even know if it worked or not. She may as well have been holding a toy and someone was punking her.

Remembering the school's zero-tolerance policy on firearms, Judy stuffed the ray gun into her bag, and walked to her car, a beaten-up early 'aughts Buick. It didn't look like much, but it was reliable. The only thing Judy hated about it was that the gas meter was tied to what the computer that it had the fuel range for, rather than what was actually in the tank. It made it really hard to keep track of how much gas was actually in the car.

Violet and Sarah sneered at Judy as she passed behind Randy's back. They wouldn't dare risk bullying her in front of him and lose face, the two-faced bitches. Whatever, they'll get their comeuppance, one way or another, Judy thought as she continued to hold back her tears. Getting out her key fob, she clicked the button to unlock the door to her car, and minutes later she was pulling out of the school parking lot and into afternoon traffic.

It wasn't too far of a drive from the school to her home, about ten minutes. Fifteen if traffic was being a bitch, which it was today. "Seriously, how hard is it to use a fucking turn signal?" Judy fumed from behind her steering wheel. "Asshole," she cursed at the anonymous driver as she passed them getting into a left turn lane.

Eventually, she arrived home, locking up the car and using her key to get in. There was a note from her mom on the table: "Hello Sweetie, I've been called to a meeting and don't expect to be home until late. Dinner's in the freezer."

Judy looked, it was a pizza: Four Meat, Stuffed Crust. She sighed and closed the door, how was she supposed to lose weight when all she ate was junk food? And then she remembered, Oh, yeah, I have that ray gun. If it works.

Judy took her bag and retreated into her inner sanctum, the fortress of solitude itself: her bedroom. It was an introverted girl's dream bedroom, Sanrio and Barbie decorated the aggressively pink walls and bed, along with a brand new Aggretsuko print she got the last time A-Kon was held in-town, an entire bookshelf was set aside purely for manga and comics, and her old box TV sat atop her dresser, where it had a Nintendo 64 plugged into it.

Judy looked at the print of the Twilight Princess version of Zelda hung above her dresser, it'd be so nice to look like her, the image of beauty and grace cut with the edge of the responsibilities of running a kingdom. Princess Zelda was so cool, she was Judy's favorite character to play as in Hyrule Warriors. Pretty much the one game where she wasn't completely useless.

Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to look like her if the ray gun worked as advertised. Judy fished for it in her bag, having to take out several textbooks before she found it, as her backpack had hid it in such a way that only backpacks know how. It was like neatly rolling up a pair of corded earbuds around your hand to stick them in your pocket, only to have them come out all tangled up when retrieved.

Judy fiddled with the dials, there were only a few, but a choice made on one dial changed the settings on the others. For instance, when Judy picked "Hair", one of the dials changed to display a color wheel, another adjusted the saturation, and yet another displayed a selection of hair length choices ("Balding" and "Shaven" were choices, Judy noted), and even more dials displayed hair types, hair styles, and so on. A small screen on the side of the ray gun kept track of her choices. If this were a prank, it was a very elaborate one.

Judy decided that the other choices could wait, she only needed to conduct a small test. She set the ray gun to change her hair to "Brown, Long, Straight". She stood in front of her closet mirror, held the gun to her head and pulled the trigger. A light burst out of the ray gun, and immediately Judy's scalp began to tingle.

Oh, shit, what if she just irradiated herself? She really should've thought this through. But before Judy could finish that line of thought, her hair began to grow explosively, pouring out of her head and over her eyes, flowing down her shoulders, and only stopping when her hair reached her lower back. Judy used her free hand to brush her hair out of her vision, staring wide-eyed at the lustrous brown hair that now hung from her head. How in the world…? She looked like she just came from the stylist! Were those highlights?!

She gazed at the ray gun in wonder, brushing her hair out of her other eye. She'd never have to worry about dieting again! Those bitches could suck it! Wait, Judy thought as an evil smile spread across her lips, she could use this thing to get back at her bullies, and no one would be the wiser! She giggled hysterically, who would believe that they changed because of a ray gun? No one in their right mind would believe that!

Where did this gun come from? Judy suddenly thought, but then said to herself after a moment, "Ah, who cares? Finders keepers, bitches."

That's when Judy noticed the flashing message on the ray gun's screen. "Would you like to save this mod to presets?" It said.

"This thing has presets?" Judy asked aloud, clicking "No" and fiddling with the main dial until she found it. There were a lot of options, from generic presets such as "Bimbo", "Stud", and "Femme Fatale"; celebrity options like "Gal Gadot Varsano", "Chris Hemsworth", and "Scarlett Ingrid Johansson"; and even options for fictional characters like "Princess Zelda", "Mario", and "Harry Potter". The presets worked a little differently, with the second dial selecting the category, the third and fourth dials working as filters, while the fifth dial scrolled through the onscreen menu. There was also an "Undo" option, which removed all of the changes made to someone by the ray gun.

"Whoa," Judy said. This was a lot to take in.
