What Game Does Lois Play For Her Mother's Soul?

They unfolded the plastic playmat, with its brightly-colored circles, and laid it on the floor. Naked reporter and naked demon stood at opposite ends. Ella Lane sat on the bed, with the spinner.

"This is seriously all you have?" Lois asked.

Blaze shrugged. "I don't play chess. It's this or sex dice."

The reporter sighed. "Okay. No shapeshifting, right?"

"Fine, fine. Let's get this over with. But I go first."

"Deal."

The spinner spun. "Left hand blue," Lois Lane's mother said.

The demon bent down and put her left hand in a circle in the middle of the mat.

"Left hand yellow."

Lois knelt and put her hand on the same row as Blaze's, but opposite.

"Left foot green."

Blaze put her foot on a circle not far from her left hand.

"Lois, Left hand blue."

The reporter went and moved her left hand to the one just behind Blaze's, reaching under the demon's arm to do so. There was no way to get around touching each other...and no reason Lois could see for trying to avoid it.

"Blaze, Right foot green."

Blaze brought her right foot up just ahead of her left foot, knee almost pressing into the reporter's ribs, the demon's right hand hanging in the air for balance.

"Left foot blue."

Lois frowned. Twisting her body around, she put her left foot on the circle just past Blaze's hand. Now the reporter's shoulder was pressing against the demon's armpit, and Lois could feel the breast pressing against her back.

"Right foot green."

With a silent sigh, the demon moved her foot back one circle, carefully redistributing her weight.

"Lois, right foot red."

The reporter had to cross her leg one over the other, turning into Blaze's arm, the demon's biceps pressing against her sternum.

"Left foot blue."

Blaze moved her foot behind her. Both woman and demon were very carefully poised, their right hands in the air, trying to squeeze themselves into mostly one side of the mat. While they were both fairly well-balanced, if things kept up at this rate, they would be scrabbling for position...
