Chapter 573 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Step two.

Across the city is the Relestel estate. It's been so long since the ball that now, gazing up at the mansion head, fills you with nostalgia. You still remember the first time you bet RF. Despite the world being a fantasy world of knights and mages, she wore a tight spandex suit like a comic book super heroine. She's powerful, though her strange super power is a double edged sword. Her supernatural luck allows her to avoid catastrophe, but it occasionally comes back to hit her with a counterattack of embarrassment.

The gates are closed. You look around for a doorbell, but the modern equivalent doesn't seem to exist. You instead see an actual bell hanging from the side of the gate. You give it a ring and then awkwardly wait outside.

Eventually, the door does open. An older man in a nice dark red suit steps out and sees you standing on the other side. His hair is grey and short, and he has a thin moustache and a pointed goatee. He walks slowly along the cobble path until he reaches the gate--cane in his hand clacking along with his steps. "Excuse me, but I don't believe we are expecting anyone at this time," he says.

"I'm actually here to see Lalarin Relestel. I was at the ball that one time, remember? She wanted to talk to me about something. If you could just tell her Kyle is here, I guarantee she'll vouch for me," you explain.

"Apologies, but m'lady isn't here. Now please continue on your way. I'm very busy."

"I'm being honest. Here, look." You extend your hand. "I'm a knight of Tivera, Sir Warren."

"I see, though that doesn't change the fact that she isn't present. M'lady left to live with others of the Relestel family some time ago. That's all I can say. Have a good day, Sir Warren."

"Wait. She left? But she didn't even tell me."

"M'lady isn't required to confide with every knight she knows in everything that she does." He turns and begins walking back towards the door. "If it's her heart you're after, you can leave your letter of confession in the mailbox."

No way... I guess we weren't extremely close, but it feels weird that she would move away so suddenly. Something feels wrong. Damn it. I can't start hunting her down right now either. She could be literally anywhere. For now, I need to trust that she's tough enough to handle herself. I'll figure something out once we're finished with the Demon King.

After the supposed butler returns inside, you're left alone leaning back against the brick fence that borders the estate. You lean there for awhile. It's nice to be alone with your thoughts every now and then. And in the meantime, you know your party is working on steps three and four. There's going to be a lot of anxious waiting until the day comes to lead the ****.

Time passes by, but your snapped back into reality by a girl leaning on the wall beside you.

You turn to see a familiar dragon. She's short, and wears a nice, white dress from her bust down to her thighs. A belt covered in pouches wraps around her waist. Her boots extend up to her knees, and she has a pale blue cloak wrapped around her back. She turns her eyes up to you--a silver gaze, the same colour as her short hair. Horns stick up from the top of her head, and a tail of silver scales hangs down from her lower back. It's Trin, the dragon that was with Jika the harpy. They're allies of Cresswell.

"What'cha thinking about?" she asks.

"The day is coming soon. You know, to do the thing."

She crosses her arms. "You still owe me for that pair of panties."

"That's what you're worried about right now? We're planning for the attack... When the time comes, you guys are still going to help, right?"

"Of course we are."

"So how do you want to be alerted?"

"We're pretty good at gathering information, but if you want to be formal about it, send the message to this address." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a piece of paper and a quilled pen. Without any ink to dip, she's able to write regardless, as if by magic. She scribbles something down and places it into your hand. "We'll get it as long as you say something within the week. I hope you aren't planning on taking forever. The longer we wait, the worse it'll be."

"I know. Everything is already underway." You stow the paper away.

"I suppose we'll meet again when the time comes."

"And I don't suppose you'll tell me more about William while you're here, huh?"

"He'll talk to you himself."

You sigh. "So has he been adventuring with you all this time, just like us, but just somewhere else?"

"Something like that. We've been far west, slaying many powerful creatures. This empire isn't the only place in the world, you know." She pulls her back up from the fence. "I'd love to chat more, but I have things to do. Good luck, Kyle. See you soon."

You watch as the dragon departs back down the street.
