Sneak around the cop and continue on foot.

"The lab can't be that far from here. Quarter mile, tops?" Mackenzie mused to herself. "We could walk that..."

"Seriously, Mack? You want to try and sneak past a police barricade?" Billy asked, incredulous. "We can't report the story if we get arrested!"

"One officer in a cruiser is not what I'd call a barricade. Besides, he'll have his hands too full to come after us once other crews start showing up." Mackenzie explained, not waiting for Billy to retort before leaning out of the window and waving for the officer's attention.

"My cameraman and I are going to be in the back of our van getting ready for the PR guy. We're just gonna park so the other new crews don't get backed up." Mackenzie lied. The officer barely seemed to care, waving Mackenzie away as he continued the conversation on his radio.

With her cover established, Mackenzie had Billy pull the van around, angled so that the officer couldn't see the back doors of the vehicle. Popping out from the van's rear, Mackenzie motioned for Billy to stay low as the duo began to creep around the oblivious police officer.

Billy wanted to protest, to try and convince Mackenzie that her plan was crazy. No sane person would try to sneak into a top-secret lab actively experiencing some kind of accident. But Billy knew all too well by this point in his career that Mackenzie's ambition caused her to toss safety and sane reasoning aside from time to time. Those exact qualities were what had once seen the two of them climbing the fire escape of a quarantined apartment complex. Billy had wanted to speak up then, too, but Mackenzie's focus, paired with the skirt she wore that day, had given the cameraman a view that convinced him to stay quiet. After all, he had to find some perks here and there to cope with Mackenzie's antics.
