LexCorp Mother Box™

Maria produced something that looked like a smartphone...only one with no ports or buttons. Just a slab of black glass with circuitry embedded deep within it.

"It's a LexCorp Mother Box™!" The young woman said excitedly. "It'll help track your pregnancy, give you advice, remind you to take your vitamins, everything."

Lois took the slab, not sure how she felt about all that. It felt warm in her hand, and seemed perfectly pitted to her grip. It didn't look like a standard LexCorp widget. What intrigued her is that she hadn't heard anything about this product.

"Where did you get this?" The reporter asked. Lights were flickering in the black glass depths. Lois found herself staring into those depths, oddly entranced.

"Oh, I've been giving them out to young women who want to get pregnant. Except maybe they didn't know they wanted to before they got their Mother Box. It's part of this test program, that LexCorp is doing."

The reporter was barely listening. The Mother Box had started to issue a soothing hum. It began to vibrate, and different parts of her body began to tingle. In the depths, she could almost see an image of herself, floating in the dark void. Different parts of herself highlighted. Her womb was a vast dark emptiness, flanked by two points of light that began to gently blink.

"How many have you given out?" Lois said. She didn't want to look away.

"Four. Five if I count yours."

PING! The Mother Box said, loud and clear as a tap on a crystal glass.

"Oh cool!" Maria said with a grin. "You're synched already. That was fast. So..."

The young woman's hands began to rub the reporter's shoulders, her hot breath blew in Lois Lane's ear. "What does the Mother Box say you need?"
