Chapter 3 by Rest_Easy Rest_Easy

What was it?

Moving Out

You found the ad on Craigslist, was interviewed and agreed upon by your new roommates. Now it was time to leave the nest. Your belongings all fit in the back of your car, less a few tchotkes you didn't care about all that much anyways.

Two hours later you pulled into the parking garage associate with a luxurious studio apartment you could never afford to stay in if you weren't splitting the rent four ways. You started carrying your stuff up while you waited for your new roommates to get home.

First was Diane, a petite and quiet Asian beauty. Then Alyssa, a bubbly Black woman who worked at a salon while going to nursing school. You understood when you interviewed to replace their old roommate that Alyssa was the leader, if only because she was the one always instigating, always coming up with something to do. Last to come in was Glory, a stunning blonde and a chef.

After a little unpacking and settling in, the four of you gathered for dinner, a nice fettuccine, and talked about your days. Alyssa went on and on about her work, Glory had some cool stories, but Diane was quiet.

"So Diane," you said, "I don't remember you saying what you do. Are you a student or something?"

The other two girls burst into laughter. Alyssa loudest of all. "Our girl here has the best job of all. She gets rid of inconvenient men."

"What, like an assassin?" You threw a reconsidering look at the mousy girl.

"No, no. See, she gets hired by women with abusive husbands or whatever to get rid of them as a problem, by making them women."

"What!? How!?"

Diane met your eyes for the first time that evening and spoke. "Some hypnosis. Some **** and hormones. A lot of training and Pavlovian conditioning."

You rubbed your chin. "I'm... skeptical. To say the least."

Diane shrugged. "Maybe you'll see it firsthand, if you fall behind on the rent. Or annoy me enough."

Will you be good?
