Whatever was serving the tentacle monsters for eyes responded to light and motion. So the squirming critters stumbled blindly toward the light of her smartphone, not even seeing the reporter standing in their path. Not until the half-brick in her hand came slamming down into the squirming center of the thing.

SQUELCH

Wet, stinking goo splattered Lois Lane's face and hair as the tentacle-thing dropped limp. She turned to the other one...but too late.

The flailing mass hit her like a tire spinning off the wheel. The reporter was knocked off her feet, back slamming against the bars. Whip-like tendrils coiling around her limbs, sliding around her arms and legs, and something hard and sharp stabbed into her leg, puncturing straight through the tight material of her pants.

Lois hissed, her leg burning, trying to hold the beast off with one hand as she struggled to maintain her grip on her brick. Out of nowhere, a tentacle wrapped around her neck. It smelled of old jock straps and used condoms. Something round and wet pressed into the corner of her mouth, the coil tightening around her throat, forcing her lips open and sliding in...

She bit down, hard. Something acrid and metallic filled her mouth. The critter thrashed, its grip loosened, and Lois brought the brick down hard. Shock ran up her arm, all the way to the elbow, but it was still moving, and Lois brought her teeth down and hit it again and again and again...

Sometimes after it stopped moving, she stopped. Spit out the tentacle dick-tip in her mouth. Uncoiled the limp limbs from her neck and limbs.

Down in the dark, the women huddled around the reporter's smartphone.

"Let's get out of here," Lois said, staring down at the bars of the cage.
