"I've been, um, pretty distractible lately," Mackenzie lamented. "Just with the breakup and everything. Do you think I could borrow something to wear tonight?"

"Of course!" Jess comforted. "We can't have you walking around naked all night now... can we?"

Jess had meant it to be a joke, but when she'd said it, it had sounded significantly more like an actual question than she'd anticipated. Both she and Mackenzie froze for a moment. Both Mackenzie and even Jess herself were wondering how seriously she'd actually meant the comment. Mackenzie subconsciously moved her hands to cover herself a bit better.

"Uh, sorry, bad joke!" Jess **** a laugh and quickly began opening dresser drawers. "I'll grab you something quick before I go shower."

Jess grabbed the first tank top and pair of comfy shorts from their own respective piles in her pajamas drawer. Her mind was still racing, so she didn't pay close enough attention to notice they were both pairs that were typically towards the bottom of the drawer, and rarely worn. She shoved the folded garments into Mackenzie's hands before grabbing her own stack of clothes.

"Amy and Lily will likely be back any minute, and I'll, be back not too long after," she said as she peeked out the door. The hallway was clear, though she could hear the boys' voices from downstairs. "Although, before I take my shower, I might have to figure out why the hell Josh came home. I swear he wasn't supposed to be here tonight!"

Jess shut the door behind her, leaving Mackenzie to dress herself in peace. A few moments later she could hear Jess make her way downstairs and begin shouting at Josh. Mackenzie chuckled slightly in spite of it all, then turned her attention to getting dressed.

A few moments later, she was decent, though she wasn't exactly thrilled with the outfit. The spaghetti strap tank top seemed to be one of Jess's smaller ones. The girls all began chitchatting again, with Mackenzie explaining that she'd apparently forgotten to pack any clothes and would be borrowing from Jess for the night. That got a laugh out of the other two, at least. And that, in turn, helped Mackenzie relax a little. She was ready to put the embarrassing beginning of the sleepover behind her and to have an enjoyable rest of the night with her friends.
