Lois Has Seen Enough

"No—take me back," Lois said, shaking her head. "I've seen enough."

The reporter didn't blink, this time, as they moved without moving. She caught a glimpse of something...some endless void, darkness on darkness, a vast geometry that seemed, almost, to have a recognizable shape to it...and then they were back in that room behind the Black Door, as if they had never left at all. What's more, her clothes were back, as if they had never melted into jizz at all. No evidence she had moved so much as an inch...it could have all been in the reporter's head. But she didn't think so.

So much for my column, Lois thought bitterly. Even knowing where they are now, there's no way that they'd want to be connected to their old lives...and it would only hurt them if I did.

Blaze's hands slid onto the reporter's shoulders. The reporter flinched...and then relaxed as she felt the strong fingers begin to massage through her jacket, digging into the tense muscles.

"It takes a certain courage, to change one's life so completely. To embrace the possible, as opposed to what is," the demon's voice was soft and husky, and something about it made the reporter's palms itch. She could almost feel the pitch coming, even before the succubus said anything.

"You could experience such a life, if you wished."

And there it is, Lois Lane's mouth became a tight line. The temptation.

"At what cost?" She said, her voice more bitter than she felt like.

"For you? A favor to be collected, in time," Blaze replied. "But think! Think of what you could be? Lois Lane, Billionaire? Lois Lane, President of the United States? Or..." The devil's voice dropped down to a whisper, the lips so close to the reporter's ear that she could feel the puff of her breath, "Lois Lane, Wife of Superman?"

The reporter's spine stiffened. Her fingernails dug into her palm. Yet she bit back her immediate response. Oh, she knew she should just tell Blaze to go back to hell, but...curiosity prompted her to say something else...
