Jocasta, the Doll-loving Step-Daughter

"Oh, daddy~" The moment you exited your private chambers, the sing-songy borderline juvenile voice quickly told you exactly who was calling upon you. Turning to look down the hallway, sure enough, Princess Jocasta stood there, her face bearing a wide grin framed by her absurdly long blonde hair.

"Good morning, Jocasta," You reply simply, shutting the door to your champers with an echoing thud. You were doing your best to suggest that you were busy and unable to talk, something you had several reasons to do.

Jocasta was not your true daughter, despite insisting on calling you 'daddy'. She was the daughter of your wife and her last husband. You had only taken her in to keep up appearances, showered her with wealth from your treasury, and essentially confined her to a wing of the castle where she wouldn't cause distraction. So first and foremost, you simply did not like to associate with her.

Beyond that though, Jocasta was just outright strange, even creepy to you. She'd spent every coin you'd given her on dolls. This was something that made sense when she was younger, but even now as a mature woman, she continued to not only buy dolls, but commission them to be made, with a few even apparently looking like you. At least this is what you were lead to believe by the chatter of servants. Surely that much wealth had to have gone into something more, not that you ever asked questions...

"Daddy, I need something," Jocasta announced, which was the third reason you didn't want to talk. The princess had been spoiled by you and only seemed to talk to you when she wanted more money or an extra servant or two.

"What is it this time?" You ask, trying to emphasis your words to remind Jocasta you were growing tired of turning YOUR treasury into her piggy bank.

"Just for you to play with me for a bit, only a little bit," Jocasta requested, almost innocently. Glancing over to her again, you saw Jocasta bearing an almost disturbingly innocent smile.

No was the first answer that came to mind, but you paused for a moment. As much as you were unnerved by Jocasta, if spending even an hour with her meant your treasury might be safe from her obsessions, it could be worth it. Then again, it was Jocasta, there was hardly any promise that she wouldn't just be back tomorrow asking for more money. Still, saying no would probably upset her, not that you cared.
