An "experimental" prison

Mackenzie and Rachel didn't have to wait long before they were brought in front of the warden. Neither had been wearing anything since Saturday, and being paraded naked to the sheriffs office, then in court, and then to prison had turned them both fairly compliant, if not outright resigned.

One could contrast the physical appearance of the two: Mackenzie was a voluptuous pale-skinned redhead while Rachel was a fit, tan brunette. But now they were both standing next to each other in the warden's office, each with her hands cuffed behind her back and with her feet shackled, eyes cast down, and silent. The warden, a wiry, stern old woman took a moment to examine them.

"I brought you here because I want to be very clear from the start, before we process you." There was no reply from the girls. "I will tolerate no form of disobedience and I will punish it severely." The warden didn't ask for a confirmation, before continuing. "Now, let me explain what Scarlett Lake is..."

It turned out that Scarlett Lake was not an ordinary place. It was a private detention facility whose purpose was to run a few "experimental rehabilitation programs for inmates of low risk". It had been set up relatively recently as a private enterprise, and, due to its special "programs" it boasted a hundred percent success rate of its "rehabilitation". Whatever that meant, Mackenzie and Rachel would learn over the week they had to spend here.

Then the warden called the guards. "All clear so far?" Both girls nodded quietly, without lifting their gaze. "Good." Mackenzie felt a guard grabbing her arm and leading her away, while another guard grabbed Rachel.
