A road trip

Relaxing vacations had their appeal and all, but over the past few months Mackenzie had found herself itching for something different. She wasn't sure how, but somehow the idea of taking a cross-country road trip had wormed its way into her head and it wouldn't let go. The idea of seeing the country and going on a journey of self-discovery appealed to the redhead in a way she couldn't entirely pin down. So, Mackenzie had decided to go for it.

Now she was ready. Mackenzie had taken the next few weeks off of work, and was ready to hit the open road. She packed her two travel bags into the trunk of her silver four-door sedan and closed the lid. In the backseat she had a few smaller bags full of various things like snacks, drinks, and maps in case her phone died. Anything she might need was at arm's length.

It was a warm summer afternoon and Mackenzie wiped the few beads of sweat from her forehead as she opened the driver's side door. Her mid-thigh jeans shorts clung tightly to her slender legs, while her loose green t-shirt allowed for much more breathability. Mackenzie slid into the driver's seat and made sure her mirrors were all properly adjusted.

"Phone, purse, keys," she rattled off to herself, making sure she wasn't forgetting anything, "house locked, and full tank of gas. I'm all set!"

With an optimistic grin, Mackenzie started the car and drove off, eager to see what fate had in store for her.
