A pet adoption event

Mackenzie exited the news van, gazing across the parking lot at the animal shelter. She'd been filled in by Gary that her first broadcast would be promoting an upcoming pet adoption event hosted by the shelter. Mackenzie would briefly interview the shelter's manager and pose with a few adorable pets before calling it a day. No sweat!

Pete hopped out of the van behind her, accompanied by Gary and a young man who appeared to be Gary's assistant.

"Ah, bright sunshine, cool breeze," Pete said, taking in the weather, "Couldn't be farther from a storm!"

Mackenzie blushed at the word "storm" but tried not to let it show. She knew Pete was trying to comfort her after all. "If I never set foot in another storm as long as I live it'll still be too soon." she said ruefully. Pete chuckled at that and the group made their way over to the shelter's entrance.

After some brief introductions with Nancy, the manager, Mackenzie knelt down to meet the two animals that would be on the broadcast. The first one was an orange and white cat named Sammy, which pleasantly purred as Mackenzie scratched behind its ear. The second was a yellow labrador named Buster, who unceremoniously jammed it's snout in Mackenzie's crotch as a greeting. Luckily, since he was on a leash, Nancy had been able to reign Buster in for the time being. Mackenzie scooped Sammy into her arms, comfortably holding the cat while she checked her clothes one final time.

After making sure her outfit was still immaculate, Mackenzie turned towards the camera with a smile, ready to begin the interview.
