Chapter 8 by Rowenar Rowenar

What should Ava do?

Come clean

“Wait,” Ava said, taking a quick step back. Instinctively she covered herself again, trying to ignore Sara’s smirk. “This is wrong.”

“Don’t get shy on me,” Sara said. “Nothing I haven’t seen before. Or rewatched nightly. Nice for a good destress. We should invite you to movie night.”

Ava shivered slightly, flushing at the thought. The Waverider crew all gathered around, watching Gideon’s recording of her humiliation, her exposure…

“Before- I need to say something,” Ava said.

“I’ll listen if you drop your hands,” Sara said. She grinned. “What, did you expect me to care what you had to say?”

“This is important!”

“If it’s so important then you shouldn’t be prioritising your pride then, should you?” Sara said.

Ava flushed. God damn it. She closed her eyes, and shaking slightly lowered her arms, exposing her tits once more to Sara’s inappropriate eyes.

When she opened her eyes, she tried to look at the wall behind Sara, tried to ignore how openly she was being ogled.

Normally she wouldn’t have minded Sara seeing her, but not like this. Not when…

“Time’s been changed,” Ava said. “When I landed on the bridge, I don’t think that was meant to happen. What you saw- did- made me-”

Ava swallowed.

“This isn’t right,” Ava said. “You saw the time I contacted the Bureau in, you know it was in your subjective future. I should never have been back there. It was a mistake, an accident with my Courier. I would never have chosen to…”

Her voice trailed off, still embarrassed by how Sara was looking at her.

“Alright,” Sara said slowly. “Interesting idea. Doesn’t explain why you decided to drop into my room naked. Not that I’m complaining, but hey.”

“I-” Ava began.

“No, no,” Sara said. “Face the other way while you explain this, there’s more of you I want to look at.”

Disbelieving, Ava stared at her. When Sara didn’t blink, didn’t give any indication she was kidding, Ava gave an exasperated sigh.

Squirming with the shame of it, Ava turned around, once again displaying her ass.

“This was where the… mishap happened,” Ava said. “My clothes were meant to be here.”

“You were naked in my room?” Sara said, amused. Then, realising: “Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me. You and me?”

“…Yeah,” Ava said.

She still fidgeted. She’d been exposed for far too long, she didn’t know how much more she could take.

“Ok, turn back around,” Sara said.

Gratefully, Ava obeyed. She moved her arms-

“Nuh-uh, didn’t say you could cover up,” Sara said. Ava flushed again. “I’ll give you credit, it’s a… bold story, but you can’t think for a moment that I would buy that in some other time I went soft on you and you stopped being a gigantic, controlling pain.”

Ava stood with her arms by her sides, boobs exposed, cunt in full view of Sara’s roaming eyes. She still flushed red, embarrassed.

For a moment she almost whimpered, afraid this wouldn’t end. Then-

“Left bedside drawer, second down,” Ava said. “Three twelve inch knives, four six inch, and a baton. Top drawer, photos. One of your family; you, your sister and your father. One of you when you were in the League, with your ex. One of you before Lian Yu. Bottom drawer, your old White Canary costume that you switched out.”

Sara faltered suddenly; Ava prayed it was enough. Those titbits were things the Ava of this timeline wouldn’t know, not without spending a lot of time in here with Sara, and that seemed unlikely.

At least she’d caught this Sara off-guard. A little nervously, Ava tried to cover herself, glad when Sara didn’t react.

“Why?” Sara said, after a moment. She cleared her throat. “Ok, if you’re my girlfriend in the real timeline, did I tell you why I switched costumes?”

It took Ava a brief, panicked moment to recall that bit of pillow talk.

“You didn’t have a reason,” Ava said. “You came up with a dozen different inspirational stories about choosing or changing your identity to tell the team, but you just wanted a change. That’s all it was.”

For a moment, Sara stared at her. It might have been comforting, if not for the fact Ava was still all too aware of how she was naked under Sara’s gaze.

Sara cleared her throat to speak.

Does Sara believe her?
