Observe Niki's fight.

You shut the book. "It's a long story."

"Stop that." You run your hand through your hair and sigh. "Listen. Basically, everything was all right until we started running into Demon King Sa'dis' minions. We had to deal with some assassins, the high succubus Mistress Dajy--"

"I've heard that name before," Bek interrupts.

"We uh... defeated her. We also defeated the Vampire Queen, Mistress Catherine. Both were servants of Sa'dis. We have some intel that two other big players serve under him, though there could be more."

"Damn. Your party doesn't mess around," Hedi says. "Niki's been busy since being banished."

Niki swings her bat, though Umi ducks underneath it was cat-like reflexes. She leaps into the air, dodging Niki's follow-up shield bash, and the cat's flexible legs stretch apart as she clears the jump easily. Once behind the warrior, she lashes out with a dagger, but Niki's movements cause it to slide off her chainmail skirt instead.

You continue. "There's Flame General Ithic, a devil, and then the sunheart spymaster that goes by many names, including Lynx. Each of these generals have had some people working for them, so I reckon Umi and Zakira work for Lynx... or Zakira is Lynx. I don't really know."

Bek squints. "Or she was," he says under his breath.

"Eh?" Tom looks to the dwarf. "What are you muttering about?"

"The chick that whooped my ass."

"The one that trapped us in the cave," you reply. You look around, though don't see her anywhere around the area.

Would she have really come here herself though? Maybe this Golden Sword is important enough to them, or it's because she's a sunheart. This could even be her home town for all I know. Either way, this is bad. That means that besides us, every other competitor in this tournament is serving the Demon King.

"So I could be fighting the Demon King's spymaster next match," Hedi says. You look to him, and you can tell he's nervous. Sweat drips down his forehead, and he can't stop fidgeting in his seat. "Then all I need to do is take care of her, and problem solved. We can go celebrate at the Lily afterwards."

"I don't think I like the Lily anymore," Tom mutters.

Things are getting intense. They wouldn't dare take out Niki's parents in broad daylight surrounded by tons of people, right? I feel like they would have done that already then. But we better keep an eye open...

As Umi's attacks continue, you can tell she's focusing on something, though you're not yet sure what that is.

"She was a lot more devastating to Crusher," Tom points out. "What's she doing?"

She strikes at the chainmail again, and without a weapon, Niki can only block the occasional blow with her shield. Then, Niki looks down in surprise. She almost trips as her chainmail skirt falls to the ground. She stumbles out of it, and colour comes to her cheeks. "Seriously?!"

Umi responds with silence. She poses with a dagger in one hand, and readies herself for the battle to continue.

"You know I'm wearing pants," Niki adds. "If you're trying to do what the other bitch did, you're not gonna strip me this time."

With a whip of her wrist, Umi sends her dagger flying through the air towards Niki's head. She raises up her shield and deflects it away, but it's too late. The catfolk used that only as a distraction. Without any weapons in her hands, you can't imagine what Umi's plan is, but she keeps herself low as she sprints towards Niki, and you can barely tell what happens next.

Umi draws another dagger. She pounces, and drives the weapon right into Niki's waiting shield. However, she continues her momentum to swing right over Niki's head to once again land gracefully on the other side. She draws yet another blade from her belt and grips it underhand to drive back into her opponent's bare lower back.

Niki spots this. However, her only hand available is being used to cover her groin. Living is more important. She pivots and smacks the hand away before the strike can hand, but when she does this, Umi grabs the wrist with a quick legerdemain.
