Neighbor Encounter (Rebecca)

That evening, while David finished tidying up the basement a bit more (he had a grand vision of making things into a den for him to stretch out and relax in), Rebecca slipped on a pair of yoga pants and a sports bra and after making sure that she had her watch and phone, called out that she was going for a run. The air was a bit crisp as she set off to jog, partly to get some exercise but also to see what type of neighborhood they were living in.

After a good three blocks, and a few smiles at neighbors who waved hello to her, Rebecca pretty much felt that she had a good layout of things. There were quite a few families living in and around the area, many with young kids, and as she turned to head down the corner, she spotted a few other families out for a jog. There was something more particular about seeing the fathers with kids that struck a cord with her and she wondered how David would react to being a father when the girls came back home. It was a weird thing to imagine that they suddenly would appear and instead of just a woman and a wife, Rebecca would become a mother and have two little girls to raise and take care of. She had spent several hours at home during the afternoon going through their clothes and folding things, setting up their bedrooms, and wondering what they would be like. It was very interesting, to say the least, to go from a near non-paternal outlook to a very cozy maternal one.

So much so that when she spotted a ball coming her way, she picked it up and looked around before she spotted a young boy waving at her to toss it back. She ran up to him and handed it to him with a smile. "There you go."

"Thanks!"

She looked up at the person who waved at her and she immediately smiled back and waved. "Sorry about that! I'll tell him to be more careful."

Rebecca shook her head. "That's okay, I'm sure he didn't mean it."

There was a brief pause before the man walked over and as he approached, she couldn't help but smile a bit more. She was married, that was true, but was there a problem in looking and appreciating? "Haven't seen you around here."

"We just moved back in, my family and I are a few blocks down."

He smiled and nodded. "Same here. Name's Harrison, by the way."

She shook his hand. "Rebecca."

"Welcome to the neighborhood, Rebecca."
