I admit it, this mid-week challenge exists purely for the bad pun.

Having said that, it should highlight just how wild and crazy things have gotten since last mid-week challenge. So, 8 obstacles, pulled from an American Ninja Warrior wiki I came across. For each obstacle, I have a default skill check in mind (noted with each obstacle). If a character has another approach to it, I’ll note the skill check they used instead. With each skill check, there is going to be some default results (go back to some previous BTS’s for explanations on how rolls work):

Crit Success/Full Success: 2 speed points, obstacle conquered (in addition, crit gives either a speed boost or an advantage on the next obstacle)

Mixed Success: 1 speed point, obstacle conquered

Fail: Have a bonus action to try to salvage attempt. Success there means obstacle skipped without failing it (and no speed points). Failure there means obstacle failed (using a 3 fails = DQed system).

For ranking the contestants, we are going to use these “speed points” mentioned above. Surely, whoever earns the most speed points would’ve won the course if I was to time them, right? For those DQed, we will use number of obstacles conquered, with speed points as the tiebreaker.

Having said all of that, let’s list out the dice rolls:

Obstacle 1: Quintuple Steps

Description: 5 angled platforms suspended with a sizable gap between each platform. Intended to be hopped across.

Default Skill: Acrobatics (Jumping)

Obstacle 3: Swap Salmon Ladder

Description: 2 walls with alternating hooks. Contestant is given an iron bar, which is used to catch into the hooks when jumping. Intended to be traversed by alternating walls, going up.

Obstacle 4: Rolling Thunder

Description: A large wheel suspended inside of a track of piping (with several drops). Wheel will rotate. Intended to be rotated down the track.

Default Skill: Endurance (Hanging)

Scarlet: 4 on roll, 1 Strike, Step of the Wind to next obstacle. Ki left: 2, Speed Points: 5.5

Daphne: 9 on roll, Speed Points: 1

Tina: 3 on roll, attempt to Misty Step, SP left: 25, 7 on roll, fail to cast, but no other neg consequences, 1 Strike.

Indigo: 6 on roll, 3 Strikes (out)

Obstacle 5: Jump Hang

Description: A large cargo net suspended. Intended to be jumped into, then climbed

Default Skill: Acrobatics (Jumping), then Athletics (Climbing)

Description: 3 wheels suspended. Wheels will rotate. Each wheel is intended to be hung on and then used to jump to the next.

Obstacle 7: Sky Hooks

Description: Several double hooks suspended. Contestant given 2 metal rings, which are used as a handhold to catch the hook when jumping.

Default Skill: Acrobatics (Jumping), followed by Intelligence (Aiming)

Daphne: 6 on roll, Misty Step, SP left: 23

Tina: 11, then 7 on rolls. Speed Points: 4.5

Josie: 7, then 9 on rolls, Speed Points: 6

Obstacle 8: The Warped Wall

Description: A half-pipe with an overhanging lip. Intended to be ran up partway and then jumped on to grab the lip.

Default Skill: Athletics (Running), followed by Acrobatics (Jumping)

Daphne (use Enlarge): SP left: 21, Strength check with advantage to do the pull-up, 13 on roll, Speed Points: 5.5
