Chapter 429 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Battle the beast.

A sweep of the giant's claws forces you to the ground. You stare up at the horrifying monster, and you're at a loss. The creature steps down on your trap planted earlier, and you certainly release it, but the blue tendrils do little to stop it. They wrap around a few of its legs and crawl up its back, though the might strength of the Twilight Scorpion tears straight through them, and another jab of its tail nearly impales you through the spine.

You roll to the side. Then, you smell your shirt. "It has to be something," you mutter. Then you look to Lynx.

With a grin, she nods.

It's the shit she covered me with earlier!

"How do you like smelling like a giant scorpion?" Lynx asks.

She got me. I don't know what to do. I have to either ring her out as fast as possible, or somehow fight this monster. The latter is out of the question. I gotta act fast, and take her out right away. It's the only way.

You turn to face Lynx, and she stands back up in response.

"So you aren't going to attack me anymore?" you ask.

She shrugs. "It would be a waste of weaponry."

"You'll regret it!" Despite the scorpion behind, you run towards her. She's near the edge, so all you need to do is **** her to step back a little but farther. You dodge two more strikes from the Twilight Scorpion as you hustle through the ring, but finally, you reach her.

"Go ahead. Strike me," she taunts. "You'll still lose. And Niki won't stand a chance against me."

"Niki could kick your ass too!"

You swing your blade, and your eyes light up. It's going to make contact. The blade of your magical sword cuts through the air with ease, and it soars straight towards her midsection. Time almost feels like it's slower now. If she dodges, you know how you'll move. No matter what, you've got her. She might be fast, but so are you.

Then, your weapon makes contact...

... with a log.

The piece of wood clatters to the ground. You turn to see Lynx on the exact opposite of the ring, and she's waving you goodbye.

It only takes one hit from the Twilight Scorpion to bring everything to a close. It swings its mighty claw, and it feels like you're being hit by a truck. The impact sends you flying, and your back slams against the side of the arena, right below the feet of the first row of stands. You look up to see audience members looking down at you with concern.

You don't remember anything else after that. Everything fades to black.
