A bandit camp

As the sun settles slowly behind the high-reaching trees that almost threaten to scrape the passing clouds, I see a distant light along the side of the path I now follow. There shouldn't be any towns around here, so it's likely someone making camp near the road. Not being too far from town, the only people that would be camping out here would be hunters, people who do not know the area very well, and ruffians. My money is on the last option, as most well-doers wouldn't be in this area at this hour, as hypocritical as that statement currently is.

I elect to leave the main path, and step decently far into woods. Approaching the light, my initial speculation proves to be true; smoke and smells of cooking meat fill my nostrils. There's a small camp, complete with a few tents and a campfire, just off the road. Getting a tad bit closer, I discover several things that surely indicate the camp's inhabitants are either bandits, slavers, or otherwise evil men. Weapons and armor from many different armies litter the ground, showing they have been looted from raids or scavenged from abandoned battlefields.

The one visible man, sat near the fire and cooking meat on a stick, is heavily armed with throwing daggers, knives, and other equipment unfitting of soldiers or hunters. Further inspection reveals another man, sleeping in a hammock nearby.
