Rescripted Holy Scripture

You come from a religious family. You have religious parents. You’re not sure about the whole thing yourself but you were raised to believe. To be honest you were always kind of skeptical about the idea of a higher power described in those old books. Especially after reading through many of the passages yourself.

That is until the day you discovered something… the copy of the text you had been given for your 18th birthday was... special. The cover of it looked old and worn but the pages within were crisp and new. One night when you were reading through a passage you had run your finger over some of the print and it began to disappear. It was weird. By brushing your finger over the words they were simply being wiped out like magic. The ink didn’t smear or smudge, it just vanished, leaving blank space behind on the page. And, for some reason, you felt compelled to fill it back in so you picked up a pen and put it to paper.

There was a knowledge that coursed through you as soon as you did this. You realised that you could… change the rules of your religion. That is, whatever you wrote down became the new truth of The Text. And any adherents that followed the real book’s teaching would believe this new truth and behave as if things had always been this way. This spontaneous insight finally confirmed for you your belief in the existence of a higher power. It was you.
