Chapter 14 by yearends yearends

So it seems like you might actually have total control of the simulation. What do you do with it?

You don't do much with the sim, since you're still not sure

About a year had passed since humanity had been uploaded to the simulation and Earth had become uninhabitable.

Society had adjusted faster than most had expected. There had been a little stigma against people who'd chosen bodies that were impossible on Earth, and even against people who'd chosen to have both a cock and a pussy, right after the upload, but that had faded after not too long. Even people like your parents had fully accepted that this was just how life was now.

The fact that everyone's libido had been ramped up helped, of course.

You still weren't entirely convinced that you actually had managed to give yourself the highest access level, and you definitely weren't happy with how you were covering up all your shenanigans, but that didn't stop you from doing them, and more openly as time went on. Not a day went by when you didn't make some sort of change to someone, even if it was just to give them bigger boobs or a thicker dick, and you indulged Tina's time-stopping fantasies on occasion by freezing the entire simulation and walking around in it for a while, putting lots of people on the brink of orgasm before starting everything up again.

The demands of work had led you to mostly move in with Tina, while your sisters and Drew mostly took over your apartment. That suited everyone just fine--Sam, Alex and Drew were definitely all in a relationship together now, while it seemed like Tina, however steadfast she was in being completely professional at work, always wanted to jump your bones the moment you were done for the day. Drew had sublet his apartment and would officially move into yours as soon as his lease expired.

Tina still preferred to be a lamia as her usual body, of course, but the one time you went a week without changing her significantly you could tell that she was morose and disappointed. She didn't mind working in whatever body you decided to give her--as long as she could still do the work, anyway--just as long as you weren't changing her at work.

Caroline had managed to get back into mainstream acting--helped by the fact that plenty of other famous celebrities had chosen to get modifications, pre- or post-upload, which eased the way for people like her to get gigs. People wanted to see their favourite stars more than they cared how those stars looked now.

Your image of her premiere, though, would always be seeing her spitroasted between you and Drew while Sam sucked her cock and Alex her balls.

So all in all, life was pretty good. There had been a day of mourning for Impact Day, the terrible footage replayed to remind everyone of why things were the way they were now, but that had been a few days past.

Your virus had grown substantially, forming its own intelligence. It was still bound to you, but the relationship was thoroughly symbiotic. You no longer had to think of what to do to cover up your actions; the virus took care of all of that automatically.

Everything was running as smoothly as could be expected.

--

First Captain Grzoht of the T'nin Military Survey Ship Hak'uys returned his chief engineer's salute and walked down the corridor, pausing at a door about halfway to the lift that would take him to the bridge.

He nodded in satisfaction as he heard the telltale sound of a biological body activating, and moments later his new aide, Third Ensign Izalbt, stepped out of the small room, patting herself down. He hid a smile--like most T'nin, Izalbt had lived most of her life merely as a consciousness on a mind-chip, with the exception of a few times at her military academy when, as with every cadet, she did introductory engineering. Even aboard ship, T'nin almost never used physical bodies, except for a small rotating crew in Engineering, as the ship could be controlled much more efficiently through direct mental connection. Still, regulations demanded that when making contact with other species, the ship's captain and at least one aide must download themselves into bodies looking akin to, though notably distinct from, the species they were contacting, which is why Grzoht and Izalbt had bipedal bodies, looking mostly human except for their lack of eyebrows or eyelashes, along with green sclera.

Izalbt started as she realized her captain was looking down at her with a slight, bemused smile, as her hands seemed to linger a little too long in certain places of her new body. "Sir!" she said, straightening up and giving a rigidly-perfect salute.

Grzoht returned the salute more casually. "As you were, Third Ensign."

"Yes, Sir." She relaxed somewhat, but kept her arms stiffly at her sides even as they began walking to the lift.

"Report," he requested.

"We're approaching the--what was it called, Sir?" she asked.

Grzoht shook his head just a little. Izalbt had just been finishing up her last term at the academy when the T'nin had first visited Earth two of their years ago, whereas he, as a Second Captain, had been first officer on that mission. Now he was commanding the mission to check up on that planet's inhabitants, while it was Izalbt's first long-range cruise.

"The Sol System, Ensign."

"The Sol System." Izalbt shook her head. She knew all of it, of course; she was just a bit disoriented from the transition to a biological form. She was still linked to her mind-chip, but using a brain modified how you thought in the first place, which always led to memory issues for those unused to it.

"We're approaching the Sol System. As predicted, the third planet was rendered uninhabitable by an asteroid strike approximately one planetary orbital rotation ago. A space station maintains orbit around the star in the same path as the third planet."

"Functioning normally?"

"Yes, Sir. I was able to download its entire database." She smiled. "I based these bodies on an average of the new appearances among the humans."

Grzoht smiled at the eagerness of youth. Choosing the bodies which they'd use to make contact was one of the duties of the captain's aide, of course. The ship's biological reconfiguration machines had altered Grzoht's and Izalbt's standard bodies to fit her specifications, given their expressed preferences for contacting sexually-dimorphic species. Still, it seemed to the captain that Izalbt had been rather more attracted to how humanity had altered itself, rather than paying attention to the fact that a large part of the species had chosen to make no, or only minimal, alterations.

Which was why his body was tall and muscular, sporting a very substantial penis, while Izalbt's was lithe and athletic, but nonetheless had breasts larger than her head and a butt to match.

They were quite sensitive as well, but the links to the mind-chips kept the effects of such sensitivity from overwhelming their thought processes as they walked down the corridor unclothed, the air brushing past their bodies.

They fell out of faster-than-light travel just inside the orbit of the fourth planet, activating the stealth systems to avoid detection by the drones swarming over and between the station and the planet, harvesting raw materials from the dead world to maintain and upgrade the station.

"It was a beautiful planet, you know," he said, a bit of wistfulness in his voice as they sat down in the chairs that mostly went unused to watch the approach. "Humans are technologically primitive, of course, which is why the best we could give them was the mind-chips, adapted to work on the power sources they'd developed, but for all that their world was a place both of natural wonders and truly stunning architecture." He shook his head. "All gone, in a cruel twist of the universe."

Izalbt nodded. She'd reviewed the records of the earlier mission en route.

"Who's in charge in there?" he asked.

Izalbt pulled up a holographic display detailing the access pathways within the simulation's computers. She quickly narrowed it down. "This group"--she highlighted a few hundred mind-chips--"is generally recognized by the inhabitants as being in control."

"I take it that they aren't," Grzoht said.

"Correct, Sir." Izalbt focused the display on another chip. "This chip alone has full control of the entire simulation." She frowned.

Grzoht matched her frown as he pulled up the simulation's history for himself. He didn't like it--nobody did--but longstanding established principles of interstellar law were absolutely clear on what the protocol was for contacting and dealing with a virutal species where a single member controlled its existence--no matter how that came to be.

"We'll meet in my office, then. Are there records of the original body?" he asked.

"No. There were strict protocols of privacy and secrecy regarding whether anyone wanted a record kept of how they looked prior to virtualization," Izalbt said. "This person did not. However, I have been able to cross-reference other records to determine an approximation of her probable appearance."

"Very well. Prepare to link the chip to an interactive hologram and order the biological regenerators to prepare a new body. It's time to meet the humans again." He smiled. "Hopefully she won't be too scared at finding herself back in her old body."

"I hope not, Sir," Izalbt agreed.

--

"OH--" Freeze. Finger. Unfreeze. "FFF--" Freeze. Nipple pinch. Unfreeze. "--UUU--" Freeze. Clit bite. Unfreeze. "--CCC--" Freeze. Cum dumped in Tina's pussy. Unfreeze. "--KKK!"

Freeze again. You wrapped Tina's tail around your body, snaking your tentacles out to play with her boobs, then unfroze her again. "You just keep wanting to prove to me how much of a slut you are for this sort of thing, don't you."

"Fuck yeah," she said in between gasps as you lavished attention on her tits. She pulsed and flexed her tail to send a little pleasure your way, too. "I'll prove it to you as many times as I can if it means you keep treating me like that."

"Lucky for you that I like treating you like that, then."

"You'd treat everyone like that if you actually just admitted to yourself what's pretty clearly the case."

"I can't rule out the possibility," you said, though silently you did concede that Tina was almost certainly right. "Not willing to run the risk again."

"So you would do it, if you knew for sure you could get away with it."

You paused. Treating Tina this way, when she liked it, was one thing. Making small changes here and there to which nobody would ascribe significance, was one thing. Making someone horny for you so that they actually wanted to fuck, was one thing. Even changing someone's mind completely so they thought they'd wanted to do it all along, was one thing.

Doing it and leaving people fully aware that you were doing it, and doing it for your pleasure and leaving them to suffer the consequences? That was another thing entirely.

But you couldn't deny that you'd do it if you knew you could get away with it.

"It's not just whether I can do it in here," you said, tacitly admitting that Tina was right. "What if those aliens who gave us the mind-chip tech come back to check up on us? What would they think about it? Why'd they give us the tech in the first place, anyway?"

"I guess," Tina said after a moment of silence. "But they had to know that it was a possibility that people would hack the simulation."

"Probably. But what would they think of what we've done with it?"

"You've said the other hackers have all been about as benign as you."

"The ones I can detect, yeah. None of them have gone much beyond the sorts of things that I do."

"Even if they did come back, don't you think they'd be more likely to talk to the government anyway? After all, everyone other than the two of us thinks they're in charge."

"I guess you have a point. Of course, they might tell those folks about me, and who knows what happens then."

"Cross that bridge--" Tina's words were cut off as the entire simulation suddenly froze, with no action on your part.

A moment later her bedroom dissolved around you.

--

When you became conscious again--you could still feel your link to the simulation's computers, so it hadn't been very long, only a few seconds--you were standing in what looked to be a comfortable office. Two people, who looked almost, but not quite, human--you could see that their eyes were distinctly different--stood facing you, both naked, one male, one female, with bodies that seemed typical of people in the simulation who'd made moderate, but not outlandish, changes, certainly nothing deviating from physical human norms.

You looked down at your own body, and were quite surprised to be able to see beyond your bust. You'd gotten so used to having gigantic boobs that you'd forgotten what it was like not to have them. You also didn't have tentacles, or a dick--in fact, if you had to guess, you had pretty much the same body you'd had back on Earth. You wondered how these people had gotten their hands on that data, given that there were no functioning computers on Earth's surface and you'd specifically declined to have your original body type uploaded to the simulation's servers.

You took an experimental step. You could still move easily, but there was a bright circle on the floor. You reached a hand out toward the boundary it seemed to demarcate.

That got the man to break his silence. "Don't--" he said right as you reached over the line. Your hand vanished, and you quickly pulled your arm back, feeling relieved as your hand reappeared. "--cross that line," he finished.

"Who are you?" You couldn't simply know that information, which told you that you weren't in the simulation any more--or if you were, they were somehow outside your influence.

"First Captain Grzoht of the T'nin Military Survey Ship Hak'uys. This is my aide, Third Ensign Izalbt," he said. "And you are Katelyn Mills."

T'nin. That rung a bell. You hadn't paid too much attention to the news reports of the aliens who'd visited the planet, but you'd come across a few references in passing in the databases, and you were pretty sure that that was the name that they'd given for their species.

"How do you know who I am?"

"I tapped your data storage and control flows," the young woman, Izalbt, said. "I traced the command priority through the system, determining who was in charge. That's you."

"Why have you brought me here, then? And what am I right now?"

"Right now, you're a hologram. Still linked to your mind-chip, I assure you," Grzoht said. "If you like, we can create a physical body for you so that you are not trapped in the projector's range. However, I must warn you, the first experience of being put back into a body can be quite disorienting."

"You didn't answer my first question," you pointed out.

Grzoht nodded. "I'd thought that you might want a proper body again, time to adjust to it before I tell you that."

You decided to ask another question as your mind raced. "What about the simulation?"

"I froze it," Izalbt said. "I'd thought I'd need to take over its autonomous functioning, too, but your--virus? Is that what you call it?--kicked in quite automatically." She nodded her head, as if in respect.

You couldn't help a slight look of relief from forming on your face. "That still leaves open the question of why I'm here."

"Do you mean instead of the government officials?" Grzoht asked.

"As far as everyone's concerned, they run the place," you said.

"As far as humans are concerned, yes," the captain agreed.

Your eyes narrowed. "What do you mean, as far as humans are concerned?"

"I really think you should be sitting down for this," Izalbt said.

You rolled your eyes and then looked straight at the captain. "Tell me now."

Grzoht took a deep breath. "Interstellar law is very clear on virtual species when they are controlled by a single individual, as yours is. Katelyn Mills, you own humanity." He held up a finger. "Sorry. Having knowledge of your language is one thing; having practical experience in using it is another."

He paused for a moment, figuring out exactly what he wanted to say. "Katelyn Mills, as far as everyone else in the universe is concerned, you are humanity."

So just what the heck does that mean?
