Wait and Observe

The chest opened with a loud click and the trap doesn't go off as the adventure breaths a sigh of relief no doubt seeing the crossbow and thanking whatever deity she worshipped that she had noticed the trap before opening it.

you couldn't help but grin as she looked at what else had been in the chest.

"What! a few coppers and rusty pickaxe?!" the girl cried out in frustration as she looked at the measly reward. "screw this place I'm just gonna kill the boss and get out of here," she announced her thoughts quite loudly.

It was odd how vocal some of the adventurers were even when they were alone, your eyes trailed her as she went deeper into the mines, true to her word she made a B down the path that led to the boss, the kobold chief, and when she was out of sight you decided to inspect the trap...

this was odd it would usually start resetting when you got close but even when you checked its status it was still labelled as disarmed, could it be bugged, or was it a glitch? no that couldn't be at least you would imagine it happening a bit more frequent if that was the case.

upon closer inspection something dawned on you, the traps were usually triggered not disarmed, even if the girl had stopped it from going off it was still capable of firing and that gave you an idea and you began trying to detach the crossbow from the chest...

the crossbow felt a bit heavy in your hands but it was still manageable even if the size was off, aside from the Kobold chief this crossbow was pretty much the hardest-hitting thing in this dungeon, you felt a rush of excitement as you inspected the item.

surprise crossbow - when activated the target will take damage equal to 75% of their max health this item can only be used once every 5 minutes.

after checking the newest addition to your arsenal you picked your jaw off the floor, there was no way this item was meant for anyone to actually get their hands on it, hell you were this wasn't even the same punch it packed when it was activated as a trap.

That rouge would easily be able to handle the chief even at level 5 he wasn't a big threat unless the adventure was alone and below level 3 but with this crossbow, she just gave you, you could dish out some rather fun irony.

of course, there were other players in the mine, praying on your fellow miners and with this weapon surely you could even the score a little hell you were sure you could...
