The meet

Peter Simmons smiled broadly slumped against the bonnet of his squad car as he watched Max approach on her motorcycle. Max could feel the bile building in her gut at the sight of him.

"Max. Nice to see you again, long time."

Max kept silent as she got off her bike she looked into the squad car seeing someone sitting in the back seat. The door opened and Paul Gibbons got out, he looked older than he did the last time Max had seen him, the stress of his current dilemma taking its toll. He looked at Max as he walked around the car, looked as if he could kill her with his bare hands for fucking up his life.

Max didn't meet his gaze, she was too ashamed that she had got him involved in this shit.

"Well", said Simmons, "Now that we're all here, we can talk shop"

"What the fuck do you want Peter?" Gibbons shot at him.

"Your help in getting this city in the palm of my hand"

Gibbons shot him a questioning stare.

"You may not be the best chief of police Paul, but you garner peoples respect, you have the keys to Seattle, and I need that influence"

Max looked at Simmons then at Gibbons. "Max here ensured that you'll play ball, but you're a small fish in a very big ocean. I want you to introduce Max to the current DA, Chris Florien."

Max had heard of the District Attorney, he was as corrupt as they came, but no one could get any leverage on him.

"So you'll have your whore here do what, seduce Chris in some hotel room like she did with me?" asked Gibbons.

"Something like that, of course Chris was caught on candid camera with whores before and got himself out of the lime light. So you're gonna join Max and Chris in a threesome."

"You're out of your fucking mind", Gibbons spat throwing his hands up in the air, walking away.

"Easy Paul. Its just so I can have a handle on him. If you'll behave the recordings will never get out"...

"Recordings like the one of you fucking Max in the hotel room", Simmons reminded him, "It'd be a shame if your lovely, faithful wife Jennifer should see it." Gibbons turned around a sad look in his weary eyes, "Okay, you win.. fine."

Max felt her heart go out for Gibbons, she was eaten up inside for what she had done, what she was now **** to do again. How was she going to deal with this' How was she going to free them of Simmons' hold?

All her enhanced abilities and she felt powerless.
