Chapter 4 by Rowenar Rowenar

Where does she land?

The bridge of the Waverider, with a twist...

Ava hit a metal floor. Winded, she took a moment to recover, before-

“What the hell?!”

Wait, she knew that voice! She caught a brief glimpse ahead, saw the roaring winds of the temporal zone through a familiar glass window. The Waverider! Thank god, this could have been so much worse.

And that was Sara’s voice too. Ava breathed a sigh of relief.

“Sara, thank god, I need your-” Ava turned around, and froze.

Yes, Sara was there, coming out of the captain’s room, but her expression wasn’t sympathetic; if anything it was a scowl. And she wasn’t alone.

There was Ray Palmer, who seemed baffled. Amaya Jiwe, standing beside Zari Tomaz and both watching openly, albeit more with shock than anything lecherous. The same couldn’t be said for Mick Rory, who raised his eyebrows, appraising.

“Nice,” he said, gruffly.

Ava opened her mouth to snap something, but resorted to simply flushing, and doing her best to cover herself with her arms. It didn’t seem to help; if anything it made it apparent just how much flesh was on display.

Nate didn’t seem to be on the bridge, thankfully. But two people that were, were the two halves of Firestorm, Jefferson ‘Jax’ Jackson and Martin Stein, neither of which were on the crew when Ava had just left.

Ok, she’d been pushed back in time. Could be worse, at least she was among friends.

“Can you stop staring!” Ava half-shouted to Mick. She longed to gesture, but kept her arms firmly in place.

Mick pointedly refused to obey. Ava looked pleadingly at Sara, hoping her girlfriend would back her up-

“What the hell are you doing on my ship?” Sara said.

“Wh-what?” Ava said.

“The Legends aren’t part of your Bureau, and we aren’t under your command,” Sara said. “I don’t have the foggiest why you thought giving us a strip show would change that, but-”

“I didn’t exactly plan this!” Ava interrupted. Her mind reeled, thinking over possibilities, but first… “Look, can I at least borrow a jacket?”

“Like I’d ever help you,” Sara said.

What?

Wait. Shit. She’d gone back in time, obviously, she just hadn’t realised how much.

Back in their first interactions, they hadn’t exactly gotten on. Ava preferred the order and planning of the Bureau, while the Legends were just chaotic.

They’d moved past that, of course, but back at the start they’d come to blows.

Great. She’d get no help from this Sara. Ava closed her eyes, re-evaluated. She couldn’t afford to spoil the future. That just left…

“Ok,” Ava said, sighing. “Can you put a message through to the Bureau, get them to pick me up?”

“Say please,” Sara said.

Damn it, Sara was enjoying this, watching her squirm.

“Please,” Ava said. “Look, you want me out of your hair, I want to get back into my clothes, let’s just get this over with.”

Sara’s gaze lingered on her; Ava tried to focus on that. Sara, maddening Sara, she didn’t mind. She’d seen her, touched her, there was no shame in that.

Her cheeks still burned at the lecherous staring of Mick, and the fact the rest of the Legends weren’t exactly looking away.

“Show us your tits!” Mick suddenly shouted.

“Will you shut up?!” Ava snapped at him, before returning her attention to Sara, and-

Ok, that was a mistake.

“No, I think he should talk,” Sara said. There was a smile Ava normally liked on her face now. “Get that stick out your ass for a bit, huh?”

“You can’t be serious,” Ava said.

“Why not?” Sara said. “You’re a pain, but I’m not blind. That’s the price for a message to the Bureau, or do you want to hang around here as you are?”

Ava stared. She had to be kidding. She had to… didn’t she?

Mick was leering, Jax seemed to be wondering if Christmas had come early, Ray seemed guilty intrigued, Stein seemed curious; even Amaya and Zari weren’t looking away.

Sara just waited.

“And that’s it?” Ava said, hesitantly. “One flash, and you’ll call the Bureau?”

“Bit more than a flash,” Sara said. “You’ve been a pain in our collective butts for long enough, only fair we get to return the favour, Miss High-and-Mighty.”

Did her Sara remember this? Maybe she managed to use the Bureau’s memory erasing tech, but doing so with the Legends likely wouldn’t have met with then-Director Hunter’s approval.

Great, it’d figure the one time the Legends got good at not ruining the timeline it would lead to this humiliation.

Does she do it?
