Chapter 5 by dead_account dead_account

The dream comes back once again.

Someone new in the hallway dream.

You open your eyes.

It's the hallway dream again with the doors.

The memories of the last two dreams come back and hit you like a truck, and you slowly pieced together why Shelly has been acting so weird towards you.

"Holy shit, is she having the same dreams as me? How is that even possible?" You asked yourself. "WAIT, WAS SHE SNIFFING MY UNDERWEAR WHILE MASTURBATING?!"

"Welp, seems like you figured out how this place works."

You turn around to find a guy in a suit who looks completely identical to you. He smiles and bows in greeting, acting like a butler or something.

"What the fuuuuck?"

"Greetings John Doe, it's a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance. We've actually met yesterday, but I was apparently too boring to listen to while on the television." He chuckled.

"What the FUUUUUUUUCCCCK?!"

He slaps you, "Stop that."

"Sorry." You rubbed your cheek, before asking, "Wait, what? What the hell is going on? Who are you? What is this place? Why can't I remember being in this place whenever I wake up?"

"Now now, one question at a time." He said smoothly, "My name is John Doe. You won't believe me when I say this, but I'm actually you. Well, at least some sort of subconscious of you with all your memories intact." He walked around and gestured towards the entire place, "This here, is called the Labyrinth. Cliche, I know, but this place was called the Labyrinth since the last five thousand years. It's a place which contains the collective dreams of everyone in the entire world. A place where you can visit others in their dreams or bring others into yours."

"Woah." You looked around, finally lucid enough to fully understand how phenomenal everything is.

"You see John, the two weeks before you've been having these dreams, you were actually researching about this place and learning all its secrets. You wanted to know how it works and how to access it. You've tried many different methods based on what little notes you've managed to gather, but you eventually lucked out and finally connected your mind to the Labyrinth's halls."

"Okay, that sounds a bit silly. I don't remember anything about this place. What the hell do you mean that I've been researching this place for the last two weeks?"

"Well, this is a bit complicated, but basically, you wiped your own memories of any knowledge of the Labyrinth in the real world in order to have deniability of this place."

"Uh..." You're starting to not get it.

"You've essentially reprogrammed your brain to to forget everything that happens here everytime you wake up, and then remember everything once you come back. This was so you could avoid accidentally revealing the secrets of the labyrinth to anyone in the outside world, as well as being able to avoid any consequences should anyone outside find out of your methods."

"Huh. Okay, I might be getting it now... Wait, but then, who are you again? You said you were me? How is that possible?"

"Don't think too hard on it, John. Just pretend I'm some sort of tutorial guide in a video game. I'll leave you alone once I explain everything to you."

"Okay..."

"Come with me." He waved you over to follow him as he walked up to one of the doors.

You obediently follow, unsure of what's to come.

"There are many reasons why anyone would want to come here and use the labyrinth. Some use it as a place of understanding the psyche of others. Philosophers come here to gain insight of the conscious of humanity. But you though? There's only one reason why you wanted to be here, and I'm here to make sure you absolutely focus on doing that and not get distracted with anything else."

"...and that is?"

He suddenly don a pair of sunglasses, "Getting all dat puss, baby."

"What?"

"I know you don't seem to get it at first, but you have to realize, you practically have the greatest hypnosis device that has ever existed in the entire world. You don't remember anything, but when you visit others within their dreams, they still do!"

"Other people still remember the dreams I visit? Like Shelly?"

"Yeah, like Shelly! On that topic, I never expected you to go after her first. I mean, that's sort of gross, going after your sister. But whatever I guess, it's just a stepping stone." He scratches his head awkwardly, "Anyway, go inside that door. You'll see a familiar face."

He steps back and looks at you expectantly.

You had **** but to open the door to see what's behind.

Opening it, you find yourself in your classroom at your school. In the front desk, your history teacher, Miss Cardigan, was busy doing some paperwork or something.

John appears behind her and places his hands on her shoulder, and she didn't seem to be aware of his existence. "You have a special power, John. Everytime you visit someone in their dreams, you leave behind suggestions that affect the person you're visiting. Similar to how a psychologists uses hypnosis on others. When you do leave suggestions, the person you're visiting will remember you and take those suggestions to heart in the real world."

Miss Cardigan looks up and notices you, "Hello John. I thought you went home for the day. Something you need?"

"Oh, uh..." You hesitated, not sure what to say next.

"Here John, let me give you a goal that you can focus on." The other John suggested, "I want you to have sex with your history teacher, and then have her fall in love with you in the real world."

"Wait, what?! How am I supposed to accomplish that?!"

"Accomplish?" Miss Cardigans repeated, "You mean your school assignment? I already laid out instructions on the rubric, John. If you can't figure it out for yourself, then you're in trouble."

"To answer your question, do it the same way you did to Shelly." He explains, "Now, I'm gonna leave you alone with her. Once you two have sex, I'll come back and explain further. Arrivaderci."

Then he disappears.

Now it's just you and Miss Cardigans, all alone.

Well...

What now?

The first step to take?
