Shocked

After planting a kiss on your lips, your mother rolls off you and climbs out of bed. "Goodnight," she says as she leaves the room, as if what had just transpired was perfectly normal. Shutting the door behind her, you are left with only your thoughts in your dark room.

Though you struggle to process what just happened, you find yourself exhausted as the adrenaline from your encounter with your mother drains away. With **** and **** affecting your mind, you being to drift into sleep as thoughts swirl into your head.

"What the fuck!"

"I just had sex with, no, was ****, by my own mom!"

"What the hell is wrong with her, this is crazy!"

You wake the next morning to the smell of breakfast wafting in through your slightly ajar bedroom door, and the sounds of animated conversation heard distantly from the flood below. The morning sun warms the room and you throw off your blankets and rub your eyes as you struggle to piece together your memories of the previous night.

Your pulse quickens when you realize it really happened. Your panties are still sitting on the floor where she dropped them. You needed to figure out what to do next, you needed a game plan, but you didn't have one. You weren't even sure how you really felt about what had happened.

Ultimately you fall back on routine, you throw on some clothes, brush your teeth, and head downstairs like it was any other morning.

Your mother's voice grows louder as you approach the kitchen, and you begin to make out the voice of whoever she was speaking with. You can't think of a time your mother had had company over in the two weeks or so since Veronica left her.

Veronica, your mother's erstwhile lover and life partner.

It was her voice, having what sounds to be a quite friendly chat with your mother. "Hi Natalie! Its so good to finally see the new you," Veronica says as you enter the kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" you ask coldly.

"Veronica's going to be moving back in with us," your mother answers for her.

"What? Why?"

"Well to be honest Natalie, I've done a lot of soul searching, and I've realized I love you and your mother very much, and I don't want to be apart from you any longer," Veronica explains.

"And you're just going to let her come back like nothing ever happened," you ask your mother, staring daggers in her direction.

"I love her Natalie, and I think you deep down love her too. You should try to forgive her, she didn't leave because she wanted to hurt us," your mom answers, appearing as if somehow completely free from any resentment or anger towards Veronica.

"I know things have changed dramatically for you since I left, Natalie, and I understand you rightfully blame me for that, but I hope I can make it up to you," Veronica says as she reaches out to embrace you.
