She investigates a strange corporation

"I'm sorry but the Ereshkigal Corporation doesn't let just anyone enter its premises," said the pale-faced receptionist at the front desk. "Especially if it involves the R & D sector."

"But I work for the IADC and I have orders to investigate this company to see if it is complying with the terms of its government contract," said Diana Prince, secretly marveling at the woman's lack of skin color. "If you don't let me in now, I'll be **** to come back with a warrant and if I have to, I'll **** my way in."

"You say that as if it means something," said the receptionist. "Okay, I'll check with my supervisor."

Diana fidgeted impatiently while the receptionist made her call, then fidgeted even more while the receptionist reluctantly agreed to let her in.

"The boss has one condition," she said. "That you -- like every visitor -- abide by the company dress code."

"No problem there," said Diana.

"And that you abide by all the company health and safety rules."

"That sounds like two conditions," said Diana Prince.

"Nevertheless my boss refuses to let you in unless you comply," said the receptionist.

"Okay," said Diana.

"Good," said the receptionist. "Now before you go any further, you have to first remove my shoes."

"Remove my shoes?" asked Diana.

"And your socks," said the receptionist. "For environmental reasons, we don't want to have you tracking in anything from outside just because you forgot to clean your shoes. So we require all visitors to go barefoot."

"If you say so," said Diana as she took off her shoes and stockings. "Where to now?"

"That elevator right ahead of you will take you where you need to go," said the receptionist.

"I hope so," Diana muttered under her breath.
