The Door Explodes

Aaron takes a reassuring breath as the deafening sound is replaced by an eerie silence. Looking around he was relieved to see nothing out of place and everything within the immediate vicinity was intact. Stepping out of the lounge Aaron looked toward the main door of his apartment and recoiled in horror at the sight of the empty frame and the splintered wood that littered the floor below.

His heart began to race as he nervously kicked away the debris that surrounded his feet as he stepped forward. Instinctively he glanced toward the bathroom on his left and was glad to see the door was undamaged. As he strode past it, there was a dull click as the door began to silently swing inwards. Unaware of the unfolding events behind him Aaron grasped the doorframe and nervously peeked out into the corridor.
