Gwen enters the TARDIS

"So where is this 'TARDIS' of yours anyway?" asked Gwen.

"It's up ahead," said the Doctor.

Gwen looked in that direction but saw nothing but a blue police box. Though, come to think of it, that box did seem to be in an odd location. Granted, she did not know a lot about such boxes, being an American who had only seen such boxes on TV -- but she never imagined seeing one of those boxes on private property. And she could have sworn that she was in this universe's version of the United States anyway, not its version of England.

Nevertheless, Gwen followed the Doctor when she went inside the big blue box and found herself pleasantly surprised by how large it was inside. In fact, it seemed much larger inside than it did outside.

"This is my TARDIS," the Doctor said. "Or as you humans would call it, my 'time machine'. I can go anywhere or anywhen and I can even go to alternative universes. But I imagine you travel between universes too -- only you do it the hard way."

"That's right," said Gwen.

"Well, if you do it my way, you don't have to worry about glitching," said the Doctor.

"Wait a minute," said Gwen. "How do you know about glitching?"

Before the Doctor could reply, a brown-skinned Muslim woman appeared. "Who's the visitor?" she asked. "And why is she -- "

The Doctor said with a smile, "Yaz, this is Gwen Stacy. She's a fellow traveler, so to speak. At least, that's what you'd call her nowadays -- though the Yanks used to make such a fuss about that phrase back in the 1950s. Gwen, this is Yasmin Khan aka Yaz, a crucial member of Team TARDIS."

"Team TARDIS?" asked Gwen.

"That's her current name for the small group of people who travel with her," said Yaz. "If you hang around long enough, you'll eventually hear a different name but for now, that's her favorite."

"So there are other people in this 'TARDIS'?" asked Gwen as she took off her mask.

"Why, yes," said Yaz. "There's Ryan, Graham, Clara and her friend and one recent visitor we're still not sure abou -- "

Just then an oddly dressed woman with an obviously old-fashioned sense of fashion entered the area where Gwen, Yaz and the Doctor were at, followed by a couple of younger woman who both had dark hair but were otherwise totally unrelated.

"Oh, my!"said the older woman. "I heard we had a visitor. And I must say she looks like pretty cute -- for a human, that is."

"Who are you?" asked Gwen.

"Please allow me to introduce myself," said the older woman. "I am the Doctor's wife. But you can call me Melody Pond."
